NY chicken lover!!!!

Perhaps she can contact the Central New York Cat Coalition. They can help with getting cats spayed or neutered. You can find representative at the Pet Smart pet stores. They're very helpful. They also operate a catch, spay/neuter release program for feral cats.

ROFL thats how we ended up with them! They are all fixed, but not all of them got adopted when it came to adoption time. Some of them have constant health problems because of being inbread. Most of them came from the bad areas down town either as in utero females who were too far along to spay abort or as kittens with no queens that the people there "couldn't take care of"

We have just the one cat. Norma Jean, my DD's cat. Our others all were old and had to be put down. I'm in to chickens now. I just can't bring myself to get a cat. Though they might offer some predator protection of the flying kind.

Never bothered the big chickens though.

Normal Jean did get IN the brooder bin once and lay down under the light. Never bother the chicks though. Craziest thing to see. A black cat laying there sleeping while the chicks cowering in the corner.

Ok so after doing some research on what other types of breeds I'd like to add to my orpingtons, I would really like to add a pair of Barred Rocks or Dominiques simply for their coloring. More brown eggs won't bother us. I just really love the look of these chickens. So if anyone has a pair for sale I'd be interested, even chicks. It's not that I don't want chicks, it's just that I'd really like something that's ready to be outside already and since I'm only looking for 2-3 if they had to be inside I'd like them to be raised withy Silkie chicks so they're not alone. Rancher, I believe it was you who said you may be getting a few? I'll buy some from ya if they're not already spoken for.

Now that must have been a sight to see!

Have had cats my whole life, but when our last good old orange tiger, Gideon, passed away about 4 years ago or so, he was the last one I think. My mom has a 3-legged cat, but that is a crazy story for another day...!

I think I'm late jumping in on the topic, but Tabs if you are looking for a safe way to treat sinus during pregnancy I have had great results with acupuncture...and I mean immediate relief. Everything starts draining right away. I promise the needles do not hurt!
I used to get sinus infections once a year. Now if I feel sinus congestion I go get poked and have been able to avoid getting an infection. I can recommend a few good ones in Rochester, outside of that I'm no help

. Feel better soon!

I am sore today! I was working on the new run yesterday while we had some good weather! Due to a lack of resources, I am making it out of branches that hubby took out of our trees. I think it will actually turn out stronger than the other run! And prettier!

Congrats on everyones chicks this spring! They feather out so quick

I have BR's but unfortunately the eggs are not fertile, if you've been following my postings. Otherwise I'd be hatching chicks. Mine are from MO and very nice though they don't all lay as big and egg as I'd like.

Dominiques are nice and I've had two hens but they lay a medium sized egg at best, noisy and bossy. First in the coop at night and would squawk for the others to come to bed. One did go broody and made a very fierce mother too. Nearly took my head off once.

I wanted to comment on past posts.

TOB--love the coop

Breella--like the feeder strung up with yarn, great idea

Sunnyside--so far the sudafed is working good, but thanks for the info. Its amazing how much you can take breathing for granted until you can't. I'm taking my daughter to a dentist in Rochester next week and my brother doesn't live too far off W. Ridge Rd.

Lynzi--my olive eggers are barred and I have golden cuckoo marans. They aren't barred rocks or domique but you could google them and see if they are something you'd be interested in. I think they are colored similarly.

Ohh ok, thought you mentioned you were putting some eggs under a BR, I must have just assumed they were BR eggs. Sorry I've had a busy past two days with kids and work, I've just been skimming posts. :)

Do you have any pictures of them you'd could PM me? I just looked them up and the pictures that came up are more golden in color than just black and white.
