NY chicken lover!!!!

That is a relief!
I'm pretty sure mine is a raven rather than a crow. Fantail instead of wedge tail, and a more throaty low call instead of the higher pitched "caw caw" of a crow. Also my black bird is HUGE.
Either way, I'm happy that both of us have a black bird that chases hawks away, and I am so glad to know they don't bother the chickens. Thank you!
Mine were out yesterday with all the birds - crows (or ravens LOL), robins, the wild bunnies came out at the edge of the property. It was quite the scene.

My BR's have been in with my two orp ladies and everyone is getting along which is a huge relief! No bickering at all. They're actually sticking together while they're out in the yard too. The first day the BR's were keeping to themselves while mine kept their distance. Although mine have developed this morning ritual of running immediately to the front yard to check what's fallen from the bird feeder. They stay out there all morning and then head back to the rear of the property. The BRs have only ventured once or twice to the front yard that I've seen. I'm just happy they seem so comfortable here. They came from a larger flock that also had a couple of roosters. You can tell one took quite the beating from the Roos she must have had because she's got a ton of new feathers growing in on her neck and back. She must be liking the calmness here.

I have had hawks living in the trees near my house. For this reason, back when I was considering a run for my chickens, I thought it must have a "top" to protect them from the hawks.
I now see I have a raven living nearby, I am sure he is attracted to the compost pile/scraps left out for the chickens.
The good part is, I see the raven chasing the hawk away (often).
But do ravens attack/eat chickens or ducks?
We have Ravens and Crows here. The crows here dive bomb hawks. Our Ravens could care less about the hawks. Our crows dive bomb the ravens. Will they attack a chicken or duck. Nope. Will they steal and eat a chick. Absolutely. This is why crows don't like ravens. The ravens raid the crows nests.

Sounds like we have Crows then, not ravens. I'll have to pay attention more closely next time I see one.

Anyone ever had any EE's with this kind of pattern?

Pretty Close!?!?!

It's not the end of the world I just don't like it...it's like when I open up a new bag of crumbles and it's mostly dust.

I would say not.

Now I just picked up a new bag of DE AND.

I dust the whole coop floor with it and then toss some into the shavings. When the birds roll around they are also dusting them selves for mites. It does help to keep things dry.

I also mix some into the scratch feed and that helps avoid those nasty moths that you sometimes get.

As for the feed? I would either take it back OR mix in some DE and that will be the end of that.

I have mixed it in with the pellets just because. I also toss in a bit of Oyster shell grit too. Can't hurt and might help.

AS for the crumbles you can mix it with some water or milk to make a pasty type feed. If they have enough grit (which I also toss into the feed) they should be fine. The smallest chick grit is fine for chicks and won't hurt the big kids either.

I'm not expert so take this advice for what it's worth.

Looks to be 22 for 30 on the hatch.
