Got my babies!!!

I don't know why but I wasn't expecting them to be so tiny!
So way cute. They will grow fast fast fast. By 4 weeks they will be almost fully feathered out. That's not a lot of time. Enjoy them while they are little enough to fit in one hand.

RIP my little Beatrice. She had been living in a crate in my den for awhile, she hadn't been well and really I should have put her down long ago...luckily she passed away in her sleep last night before I had to make the decision. She was my favorite though she was always cuddly and would follow me around the yard

Sorry to hear about Beatrices passing ..she was cute . does she have any offspring to remember her by ?

My stupid broody Rouen has set up shop in a protected corner of the run, and has a nice little nest going with ten (!!!) eggs. She's hell-bent on incubating those things, and goes insane if anyone other than her "husband" gets near her, so I'm letting her roll. I was considering moving them, but then figured that they've managed since the beginning of duckdom to incubate eggs outdoors in similar spots. If they hatch, cool! If not, so be it.

Only 8 chicks from second hatch. Boo hisss... what did these teachers do to those eggs? I am getting 50% hatch rates with the same eggs set the same day they set theirs at school.

Won a pair of sandles from some online store. Ordered them. Now to see if they come.

Stopped at a bicycle accident on way to work this morning to offer my well stocked first aid kit. Woman was unconscious so there was nothing anyone was willing to do. Thought I was going to be late to work (and didn't care) but got there a minute early. LOL

Henicillin you can have that roo. I have 2 already, even with the loss of my Sumantra roo, so I don't need any more.

Has anyone decided to accept hosting the gathering this year?
The teachers have done or not done Something ..for sure ..
What hatched in this set ?
Cass you dont have to give us any ...if you dont have enough ..I know you have others who want chicks too ..you probably dont even have enough for your self
We will find chicks somewhere ...

Yeah i know its crazy but when Dan Powell first released his Buff Laced Brahmas a couple of years ago( he was the developer of that color pattern in Brahmas), at auction they went for over $1000.00 a dozen. research the archives in BYC auctions and you can see for yourself i speak the truth. Most of the eggs that i bought are two or three generations out of Dans hands.

I have been getting eggs to classrooms also. 50% hatch in a classroom is great. Just had someone bring back 3 chicks out of 3 dozen eggs. I had 17 chicks hatch out of 23 eggs THE SAME DAY!! Argh. I try to have hatches all spring so I know that the eggs are viable.

They don't turn then on weekends. And with setting eggs on Wednesday they would only have to go in 2 weekends....one teacher each of 4 days, once even would be better than nunce....and it was 4 teachers at each school doing the hatching. I am upset. (can't say ****** off, software stars it out) I am NOT going to volunteer eggs for next year, that's for sure OR if I do? I'm going to charge them $5 a dozen for them.

I have 16 - 18 chicks. How many did you think you wanted? I am going to get some eggs from Bpapa for myself and keep one or two of the Sumantras to try and get a roo again. I don't need a single one of these chicks. And my brother already backed out on his wanting some. So they are yours for the asking. Besides, you were going to go shopping too....can't deprive you of that trip. LOL

Yes, we found his body. Hawk. That hawk is gonna meet up with a fitting end. Shhhh SSS
