NY chicken lover!!!!

There are some great State Parks out there and some with camping and bathrooms. I used to take my kids 2 at a time on different weekends and stay at a State Park. We were poorer then and we'd sleep in the van. Being small I packed so with all the seats out we could pack everything in two coolers and still have room to sleep inside. Sterno stove and one pan. Instant coffee and creamer had to do. Untangled lots of fishing line in those days. No portable VCR's in those days so they had to read by flash light. It was fun.

Any chickens/chicks should be fine for the one night as long as they have clean water and food.
I hear you on those road trips I remember sitting in back of a station wagon with my brother playing WAR (52 playing deck of cards game) from Cincinnati ohio to flordia as a kid. We did rest stops not hotels. When we got older and parents had 2 more kids middle seat of van came out and a potty chair went in that was fun. Stinky van.

I wouldn't mind a state park camping I don't know ny at all so will have to look them up when a place and date is picked for the picnic.

I washed it with soap & water & put some Bactrin on it ( antibiotic ointment .)
I read somewhere that peroixide can harm a cut .
.As the cut is on my face & I dont want it to scar ..I didnt use it ..
I wash / pat it a couple times a day with a moisturizing soap . As I have found that cuts heal faster if they are a little moisturized ..
Remember Mercurochrome? I have wounds that were huge, I used that and no scar. Other, smaller wounds, and I didn't use mercurochrome and I have scars.
Good luck finding the real stuff in this century though.
7:30 this morning. All of the chickens are out and about. This little "nocturnal predator" was out hunting chickens. Was.
Great shot. I can't stand possums.

My ducklings would NOT go in the coop last night! Each time I almost had them herded there, they would wriggle UNDER the coop. Went out at 3am and they were in their play pen, two of them were swimming. It was below freezing last night. Naughty ducklings!
They always stay out late and sleep in late too. When I open the coop in the morning, the chickens come right out but the ducklings go back to sleep.

Oh yeah, a park would be a great idea for the gathering... unless people are worried about the biosecurity of animals brought to buy/sell/trade/auction? But since they will be crated it shouldn't be an issue?
There will be water and grills and potties and rain shelter. Also, we could pick somewhere more central?

I wish I could do the long road trips, but with school and work I don't have that kind of time these days.. if the gathering is capital region - ish I can probably go, but further than that I'll just hope you guys post pics. =)

Compliments on the great shot. I believe that they have evolve at least in Urban areas because I see these guys during the day on my run. hanging out a block from Kodak near the express way in peoples front lawns. I'm hoping they don't make to my yard but if they do my dogs are ready playing dead or not.

I just hope my milk cartons will be enough to protect my tomato and squash plants. Can't do much about the raspberry plants. I also hope the mother hens can keep their chicks warm and broodies their eggs.

Omg that is a great idea I know I as saving all of those for a reason!

Ok, I've been away to PA. for a dog show and have been trying to catch up on all the posta. I'm confused, it looks like several people here are having get- together ?? Are there any definite dates & locations yet ? Would like to come ................. if, I'm not at a dog show

Ugh, just had my one pretty blue NN pullet die on me after laying her first egg. Saw her in the nest box - she managed to get out a tiny little egg, next thing I know she's standing in the yard bleeding. Took her in and she had a prolapse, but not a particularly bad one or so it seemed. Had stopped bleeding, no obvious wounds.. but alas, she didn't make it. Don't think I should do these january hatch birds anymore - seems they are less hardy, possibly due to being hatched 'off season' - or maybe it's just the NN's. Who knows. /sniff. Just two Jan 1 hatched NN's left - I hope they manage to get out an egg without prolapsing.

ON the positive side, I never managed to plant anything in my garden, so nothing to cover tonight. :)

Nothing definite yet. It's still in the discussion and thinking about stage.
