NY chicken lover!!!!

Looks like I might have a couple of cockerels, of the 3 I hatched out, of course....not pullets. Am growing out so I am not selling anything until I see that they are good-nuff..

I'll see if I can get a decent pic of the rooster I kept. He's matured with color faster than his dad. Feathers on his feet too. I'm not seeing any on the other chicks. Maybe it's too early.

Opened the door to let him out since he's all alone in the pool/brooder. Three del roosters went bye bye.

Lunch time you know so just checking in,

Jlaw---My DH built our frigabator. He's the electronic whiz in our house. I remember he used a part he was able to take off a rechargable light or other rechargeable appliance. I think it was some sort of converter. Hope this helps. I'll ask for DH for more info when he gets home.

Afternoon all. Resting my poor feet before going out to do coop stuff. Thought I would jump on and see what everyone was up to.

I think there is some silkie coveting going on here. I wont mention any names but I think they secretly would like to have silkies! Just let me know rancher and stony (oops) and I will hook you up!

Speaking of...they are all out enjoying the sun and feasting on the grass out front. I see a few dead chicken poses in the sun. Going to try the silkie tots with the one group tonight. The other ones will be put into the diva coop after I do a big cleanout and put the pen in there. These little heritage rirs have no fear of the terrorists when they come around. The boys, at 7 weeks, will actively defend against the more agressive sexlink that comes around and tries to peck them through the bars. Olaf hasnt bothered with them, which is good. Olaf doesnt know yet that he is signed up for freezer camp when the little boys get bigger.

Okay---I am really getting up now and going out to do some cleaning. If I remember, I will take some pics and post them.

He was a beautiful bird! All your roosters were handsome and mannerly guys during my "tour"!

Ahhhh I just lost power again!!! And this time it's affecting my job! Ugh! Yesterday I got lucky and it was out during my break (I work a split shift) but now I'm back online working my 5-8 shift and I'm out of power. Just lovely! I was going to upload a bunch of pics too of the ducklings! :-( we took them outside today, they had a ball out there! Man are they fast too! Here's a pic from my phone....

Gonna take the babies out today for some grass and get them out the brooder. And then be super super super lazy tonight and I guess do some homework ugh. Work was good shaved a big fat matted cat! Hope everyone had a great day and may your evening be well!!

Wish I had had my camera with me. I opened up the nest boxes on the terrorist coop to get the eggs and there sits a rir hen looking at me with her butt facing the inside of the coop. She puffed herself up, fanned her tail out and growled at me. The look on her face was priceless! Just like the mad bluebird print that was going around last year! I couldnt help but laugh, seeing her broodiness all up in wings and positively exuding her fury at being disturbed! I took her eggs anyways. No babies right now!

I finished all 4 coops, three of which I did a complete cleanout. Of course I wasnt thinking when I was putting the shavings in the diva coop to put up the puppy pen first. Duh! I had to lift up the bottom and hand shovel all the shavings inside the pen so I could open it like I wanted. Nothing like creating more work for yourself. Anyways, I had lots of instructions, directions and inspections from the girls, especially about what was going into their coop. Wait till they see their new roommates...hehehe. If all goes well, then the brooder gets put away. Just have to work on escape proofing their run better. The ladies are "too mature" to get out of the small gaps but these little rir;s spend their days looking for ways to escape. I am hoping that my three year old hens will help these newbies learn some manners and proper chicken etiquette.

I will try to get pics tomorrow. I am terrible at taking them but the kids look so good now that I have to share. Off to go do more work now as I have to work tomorrow again.

Nice pics Lynzi!

Well, looks like I'm wasting 3 hours of my vacation time for this power outage! One of the joys of working from home!

Just turned my car on for 20 mins to charge my phone so I can continue to get updates from National Grid LOL How lame is that!

Here are a few more pics of the ducklings from today...
