I would move a couple of those broodies into walmart storage tubs without lids or into spackle type (home depot) buckets with half lids on thier sides to open up some nest space for the girls still layingMan o man, I'm at a loss. Both SLW's and three BR's broody and no where for the other four to lay their eggs except where the broodies are. I'm going out of my mind. I either have to take eggs and toss them or leave things as they are. I haven't candled yet perhaps this week end.
I've divided the Del eggs between Buckwheat and the Del hen. AND an EE won't leave the nest box. I take all the eggs but she still goes back to sitting there.
I have the lone Orp chick in the brooder, with a heat light, but near some older chicks. It is feisty and pecks at my hand so it might survive. I stop to talk to it often, but wish I had another to go with it.
While the orp hen who hatched her () has left the nest, I've tossed the other four eggs as no good. There is however another hen who is staying in the nest box even though I leave her no eggs and take her out each night.
One of the chicks in the Del coop looks like a NN but not completely bald. Just not feathering out as I would like. I wonder if it's a feed problem. They do run for scratch like the big birds. I've placed the feeder with grower on the floor. The Del is not mothering them both as the EE has gone back to laying.
Any advice is greatly appreciated.
cass are these from the eggs that I gave you? I am hoping that you get a good hatch.
I gave up - both mamas clucked and acted frantic for about a day, then went back to the roost. So no chicks for anyone just yet.

A week after we released our ducks back on to the pond we noticed that they had a little buddy tagging along with them. Have no clue where its real parents are.
I take my birds to Berkshire view farm in Coxakie....takes me about an hour to get there. Try craigs list for a mobile unit...I see one advertised there on occasion.I did it...I went and picked up 6 eggs for the broody silkie...3 Welsummer and 3 Olive Egger....stupid morehensdisease.
In other news if anybody wants a mutt roo I have about 4 that are 7 weeks old that I need to get rid of
I was thinking about growing them out...they are Buff Orpington, production red mixes and a Buff Orpington, Americauna mix. I would just need to find a mobile processor in the Albany area...There is no way I could do it myself.
Hope the rain isn't treating you guys too badly...it's getting pretty muddy around my place, the dogs are brining in so much mud. The coops seem to be staying nice and dry at least, even with the windows open.
