Is this the same one you posted before questioning if it was a he or a she? Still looks like a she to me.

The flies like wet icky places to lay their eggs. Keeping the rears clean & dry will prevent it. How fast....I think fly eggs can hatch in as little as 2-3 days. Check your hens butt, clean it off & spray with fly spray as a preventative.
Nutty I just found your post. I somehow missed it. No I didn't go to graduation. I only get updates through the family grapevine. The blue cuckoo maran is a year old and the second BLRW is 2.
TSC carries fly spray for horses. I would think that you could use the same on chickens. You just spray less. This fly spray you're talking about... where can I get it? What is it exactly called? And does it affect the eggs at all if you spray it on their butts?
Several of my hens have constant poopy butts.![]()
Quote: I wish now I didnt use the zip strips but its the only way I could secure the solar panel and the vents. I am hoping that the tar wrap & tar I use will solve all the problems. The vents have really made it cooler in there this summer.
needed to remember what I postedI forgot to mention that POL is point of lay. Here's a list of what we're going to sell so far:
Hens: 1 straight comb BLRW, 1 BLRW, 3 buckeyes, 1 cuckoo maran, 1 blue cuckoo maran
Started Pullets: 4 EE, 1 OE, 1 frizz NN
POL Pullet: golden cuckoo maran
Roos (free): 2 EE, 1 orpington
I'll have to stop by TSC and get some fly spray I guess. I'm sure the girls aren't going to like it but it's needed. I've also hung a couple fly strips outside the coop that are helping.
