Happy 4th of July!  I'm currently home alone.  DH dropped the girls off at my parents and then went golfing in Boonville with my dad while I was working.  I guess I'm going to work on chores and take a look at my garden.  Hope everyone is having a good day.

Tab nope he is still being rotten cant even let him out as the first thing he does is find a way out and immediately goes for the other roo you would think he would forget because he is way away from the other roo and can't even see him

Are these two Roos that grew up together or were placed together?

They grew up together. They were separated as juveniles, but were free ranged together. Upon maturity they were fully separated for breeding purposes but visible to each other. Neither have showed any aggression before. I figured they would have that reestablish pecking order tiff then settle down.

Found a tiny egg in Pearls spot. Decided to investigate. All four of these eggs are from Pearl.








It appears to have been an immature follicle. Did everything except grow to full size in the ovary. Probably something to do with the blood spots that Pearl throws.

Happy July 4 everyone! Long day at work and hot, hot, hot! Cheeps are happily out freeranging with chicken daddy and had some patriotic dinner as well. Nothing like a nice tbone to pick at (we ate the meat!) along with some rice and corn cobs. These raptors miss nothing! Dh is feeding the mosquitoes tonight. I did that this morning when I was watering everyone. Man were they vicious!

Stony--I will take either camper you build! I love teardrops too!

Nothing to watch on TV, so here I am.

Cleaned coops today while the weather held out. Stacked some new bales of hay in the yard for chickens to hide under or to find shade.

Moved the blue Ee to the BM coop last night only to find she displaced the BM hen that was in there to sit on the wooden eggs. She's that determined. SO after I pulled her out of the nest box, she ran back to her own coop and displaced the BR hen again. The BR hen is sitting as close to the nest box as she can, like she's got an egg under her.

The plan is to move the EE hen back to the BM coop and give her some eggs of her own. The BM hen got six Del eggs and i will give the BR hen two BM eggs. Have no idea what I'll do with more chicks but expect they'll be big enough to be cooped for the winter.

I will be moving some to the BR coop which could take a few more hens.

Hung a fan in the hoop coop to draw off the heat. Can't do much for the humidity though. Plans to do so in the Del coop too.

Heard a BM roo chick crowing today. I can tell their crow. Crazy things mature early. Combs have been red for weeks.

I expect I'll be leaving chickens for tips to the newspaper man, the mail man and the garbage men. Might even take one in to the barber when I go.

I've been leaving eggs.

Well, a bird I was given by a friend seems to have bumblefoot, so I did the surgery. And I found no plugs, despite the redness and swelling. Plus I'm all paranoid that I'll somehow contract the staph or the chicks that live in the workshop where I did the surgery will get it. And I'm worried that I cut the hen up for no reason since I found no plugs, or that I managed to introduce new bacteria to her foot since a workshop isn't exactly a sterile environment. I did find some little chunks of yellow cheesy stuff, and those are out, but no big plugs like you can see on the 'how to' thread. Oh well, I know I did what I could for her. Maybe I'll try the Tricide Neo approach if her feet still don't heal up.

Anyway, happy Fourth of July! And in better news, Penny had her ten chicks out in the run today, and they were just adorable.

Right but that is not what is happening the one that was reintroduced has decided that even though the other submitted and walked away he wants to keep after the other even to the point that the bully one had himself bleeding from the mouth. Tried separate fenced areas where they could see each other the bully roo decided oh nope was still gonna find a way out and go after other roo. Moved bully roo to new barn which doesn't have any pens yet and put him in solitary by himself. Today put up fence for bully roo to get out of barn bully almost immediately flys over 4ft of fence and goes and flys over fence where other roo is and attacks him. So bully roo is back in solitary confinement gonna try to give him a couple hens and see if maybe that will take his mind off of other roo
