The only think I noticed is when its really hot they pant in them. Now it could be just from the heat but sooner or later I might drill a few holes in their for ventilation. But any nesting box is going to be hot in 90 degree wx with high humidity

Lin, we raised Call Show Ducks for 15 years. ALWAYS ONE MALE/DRAKE
TO 2 OR 3 FEMALES. This is best. Regards, Aria

This is how I believe it is with all ducks, but even if it isn't. I really only have room for 4 ducks at the moment. If the count didn't matter, I wouldn't get rid of any and just add more females. But since that isn't the case and I only really have room for 4, I'd rather my ratio be 1 Drake to 3 Ducks or if I get a different breed, 2 drakes and 2 ducks. I'd just rather have more females for more eggs, I mean that makes sense right? LOL I'd eventually like to hatch some next year if I become good at this whole hatching thing.

i have wooden eggs brown and white in the nest boxes and she was laying in there till this week or last she desided to start laying in the barn. Think i'll build a wooden nest box and turn the box so it lays point up and down. three of the nest boxes are the wall mounts from TSC and the 4th is a cat litter container on the floor i put for my light sussex but now she uses a wall mount. I hate locking them in the coop but may have to untill she relearns where to lay her eggs and only let them out after she lays an egg.

Compromise ....
put the crate in the coop ..unless you dont have the room ?

Jlaw - maybe the crate idea will work 4 u.

Lynzi - I'm glad u were able to give the two drakes to a good home. Good luck with finding more ducks! How's everyone been laying? Still on track?

Sally - what breeds have you been putting in the incubator?

Brella - I need to get more get recipes!

I'm hopefully getting two polish hens from Nature Berry. That will round off my small flock, my crazy silkie is going to be ******, but she will get over it. Lol

Back to work.

Yup! Everyone's still laying! I candled the eggs again today I'm getting really excited to see what these Orp eggs turn out like. Wonder what colors I'll get from a splash to a lavender and a buff. Then there's the lone silkie egg. Better not be partridge! LOL If it is any wants it they can have it. It would be neat to get another little black silkie. I actually checked out Nature Berry this afternoon. I've been researching these Magpie Ducks. Anyone have them? I love the blues! Nature Berry had some back in May I think according to their website. But I doubt they'll have any now. What are the chances of them having something that is listed as "sold out" on their website? If they are sold out are they done with that breed for the year? Or if I were to inquire would they try hatching something I wanted?

Ok so the person with the Blue Magpie ducks is sold out. All are gone.

If anyone here knows where I can find a pair feel free to PM me. I would love to find something now so they grow with my current ducks (if they are younger than them) and can be housed with them thru winter. Also I'd like to find something now so I'm not starting over next year and have to wait all summer for eggs next year. I would be willing to purchase more than 2 and rehome the extra if thats what's needed in order to get them shipped to me. I may even include a "finders fee" and reward with a GC of your choice.
