?"
Is the way you said " This is what I woke up to this morning." Like you woke up & there they were posing on the polka dots ...LOL

Rancher - a little aspirin - no substitutes - while you wait for your appointment ..... and the awful thing is ..... every person could have slightly different symptoms. Don't fool with it - #1 killer in the U.S. is heart disease ....

Country Boy - you don't have to go too far .... mid to western PA is over run with deer - but not in the higher mountain areas (there aren't many there) - you just need to find some rolling hill areas dotted with forest and farm and you will trip over well-fed, tasty deer. I used to live there - so if you want some further details - just let me know. That way, when you do move .... you can make a whole bunch of easy trips and keep all your breeding flock ! :) Take it from us oldies - if you do have a passion right now ... follow it !

Cute ladies on the sawdust ... they must think YOU are crazy

Got my first little egg from this year's spring peeps !!!! laid on the bare ground in the netting yard - cute and small and light brown - so I don't know who is starting, but I hope the other ladies take note so I can start to make a little $$ back from them. I have 2 adult hens who give me more than I eat - but not enough to sell fresh dozens ....

Well- if I wanted to, I could have filled both my bow tags at this point but have been passing a lot of deer to hopefully get a decent buck. But by west I really mean more South West like Iowa or Ohio. Probly not Ohio, the land there is pretty well bought up. I'm going to Indiana in November though. I can't wait for that. But I've never thought about Pennsylvania. I'll have to check it out.;)

I love animals and what not but I would eventually like to go west where there is better deer hunting as around here the first buck somebody sees gets shot. My true passion is in the woods.:D But, I always plan to have chickens and would like to continue trying to get the colors I have to be a recognized variety for Cochins in the APA and ABA. Right now everything I have is not considered a true color in Cochins. I think soon the Mille Fleur cochins will be and the Buff Barred is really close. SO, we will se where my road takes me. But. like I said, my dream right now is to go to an area with better deer management.;)

As the others have said, you are amazing. Generally most 16yr olds are more interested in gaming and texting. Years ago when I took my ham radio license test there was an 11yr old there and that was pretty impressive but it was before we had these texting machines :) I wish you the best of luck in whatever you choose to do and look forward to meeting you in the spring.

It looks like the hen that Sunnyside posted is pretty dark and a little mis-colored (still pretty though!). If yours is too that would explain why he was selling them as roosters. With SF you can sex the chicks by color at about two weeks if the coloring is correct - my guess is it wasn't and that's what happened. Other than that I have no idea why he would think they were roos

She was much darker when I got her, I know she is far from the standard, but any offspring I get will be mutts with the motley crew I have running around.

This was what she looked like when I picked her up. I was reading that there were a couple hatcheries that were throwing the darker colored females.

Miquid what does your SF look like? Is she lighter? I'm so temped to go get more of these guys I like their personality so much but I think I should be done getting new additions for the year.

Good Morning!
Another rainy dreary day here. Hope it clears up at some point. My chickens have been spending so much time in their coop that I've cleaned it out more in the last few weeks than I did from Spring thru Summer. I can't see starting the "deep litter" method this early, especially when I know we'll go more warm days before Oct is over to clean again. Anybody else have a lot of wooly bear caterpillars in their yard? I see like 5-6 a day crawling out there while I'm in the yard. Someone said "the more wooly bears, the more snow we're going to get". I'm not one to believe in myths, but was curious if anyone else ever heard of that one?

Forgot to mention, County Boy - you should be making the two hour trip up here to go hunting! Soooo many deer in this valley I live in. I have to dodge them every time I drive down this road I live on.

Did I tell you all I actually had someone contact me a couple of weeks ago when I still had an ad up for my baby bunnies, asking me if he could come hunt on my land and in return he would help out around my property. I got back to him, saying I'm sorry, not sure what gave you the impression I lived on a farm with lots of acreage but I have MAYBE an acre of land cleared. LOL I don't think anyone is really supposed to be hunting around here anyway, I mean I know people do, but there are yellow and orange signs everywhere in my woods and along this road stating no trespassing, hunting, fishing, trapping, etc. People still pull up along side this road, pretty close to my house and go hunting.

cant get better deer management than right off my deck every year. they are all over up here. had a fawn charging at me yesterday(she didn't see me at 1st) and had misty(gsd) right in front of me staring at her. I said "no, sit" misty turns around and looks at me and the deer came to a screeching halt-----pretty funny 30 seconds yesterday and all the chickens were like WTH is that thing doing.? the heron I have seems to be getting too friendly around my chickens and walks around by the coop like king doodoo

Sunny that's her she is light colored with dark feathers around her head and very fluffy/heavy looking but isn't as heavy as she looks. My white chickens are actually heavier but don't look it. She got her leg feathers plucked off when she tried to introduce herself to the flock by jumping the barrier I put up. My 6 six production hens can get nasty thanks goodness I have my roo he has been settling in and making a huge difference. Personaily wise she isn't the nicest hen at all in the flock probably one of the more nastier one's she has an attitude. She's not one to be handled much and makes it hard to treat wounds which happened when she got it from my production girls. But she makes a great utility bird and will make great utility offspring, she doesn't get picked on now and is very strong willed.

So I wonder. I noticed the ad for Cardiology. Do we all see the same ads? I was just looking up symptoms of a heart attack and yes I am concerned. I've had pain on the left side for days but more to the rib area. After I ate, and I ate to much, I wasn't feeling so well. Better now though. Still I will call the doc tomorrow. I don't think it's my heart though.

again with the ads? Do we all see the same ads, or are we being targeted?
don't screw around --go get checked---I had bi lateral PE's last December due to a rotator cuff surgery and due to all that I found out I had a defective blood clotting gene(you only have 2)
