Haha it's funny how they know.
My border collie/pit mix can hear the freezer opening from outside and comes running. I can't believe how much that dog loves ice cubes

silly dogs...

I think I'll put some pepper flakes into their eggs and yogurt and do that instead of worming. Thanks for calming my fears. You would think by now I would have learned to stop reading all the threads on BYC.

P.S. no need to worm every year. I never have given my hens chemicals or used them on them.  The cayenne pepper for worms is a preventive measure only. Pumpkin, cukes

agreed! All I do is give them pumpkins and squash, whole things just halved and let them have at it.
I also use wood ash as I burn wood 365 days a year. I as of this past year been mixing wood ash in the deep litter as the girls love to dust bathe in the wood chips I put in their coops. Today just because it is fall all coops and runs got loaded with leaves.

Thanks Stony. Its all the things I have learned from the great OTs on here like you. I also put wood ash in the litter plus whatever the girls throw out I to the coop :)

Ours love pumpkins.

My PRs loved pumpkins last year. I got almost 2 pallets full last year from friends and family after thanksgiving and they happily ate them all winter. I think the tots will like them as well. Especially since they ate a couple green ones in the veggie garden, they are little piranhas lol

I use pumpkin seeds and squash as well, and ash though my silkie likes it dirty so I give her dirt and sand with it it's so funny to see her shake it out but it works for her.

So speaking of silkies I let them do whatever and it seems that from scracthing around and getting into stuff in our back yard their puffs on their heads are slowly dimishing so they look like Kramer from Seinfeild LOL

armorfirelady I learn a lot from people like stony as well!

Well chicken math added up again at nature berry farm today. Well I planned on getting most of the chickens I got today but the wife stepped up and added some on. "don't the kids get to pick theirs?". By no means was I planning on them getting two. I ended up with my 6 barred rocks my brabanter my rir my del wifes black jap bantam daughters ancona and my son desided on a del also. Go figure his is the one that bites me as I take it from jim.

So far I love this brabanter calm when holding it and a fluff head but can still see. It has gold with black spots. Told the kids we are raising zebra and leopard chickens.
