I love my Coronations. I'm waiting for them to start to lay again after a heavy molt...Your girl looks beautiful! Has she started to lay yet?

Miquid my EE Edie's beard is gray from dust bathing in the dirt & ash. She looks like an old man with her grey beard lol
Well chicken math added up again at nature berry farm today. Well I planned on getting most of the chickens I got today but the wife stepped up and added some on. "don't the kids get to pick theirs?". By no means was I planning on them getting two. I ended up with my 6 barred rocks my brabanter my rir my del wifes black jap bantam daughters ancona and my son desided on a del also. Go figure his is the one that bites me as I take it from jim.
So far I love this brabanter calm when holding it and a fluff head but can still see. It has gold with black spots. Told the kids we are raising zebra and leopard chickens.
Well I'm back from the show...It was nice meeting Gramma Chick and Miquwid! I was hoping there would be more silkies there but it was just a few whites and a few blacks, oh and some splash but only a handful of whites were for sale and I don't any whites. I have a hard enough time keeping the lavenders clean. the Polish are growing on me. I'd like to find a hen or two of those in the spring. But again, after getting home and seeing Gru out in the yard, I doubt they are something I could keep safely with the larger birds if Gru is in there with them.So who knows what I'll end up adding to that group. My blue orp pullet is still too little to be placed with them. Worried Gru might get to her and end up injuring her. I also found out today (after speaking with the girl I got Gru from) that it's more than likely I got the eggs mixed up and the blue pullet I have is a pure orp and not a BR mix because her legs are blue. This would indicate that she came from Stella, my lavender orp. So I'm happy about that.![]()
Someone had some beautiful Coronation Sussex for sale there but it was either a hen/roo together as a pair or two separate roos. and I realized I don't even like the hens as much as the roos and I just cannot have another roo in with Gru cuz he'll fight them. So there goes the idea of that breed! LOL Think I'll just stay focused on the Orps.
We're back too. It was nice to meet both Miquwid and Gramma Chick. There were some nice birds there. So much different than the fair, as usual. Lots of OEGB's in every color available.
I really hadn't planned on doing any buying but I always bring the dog crate just in case. I figured maybe I'd see a cochin or 2 I liked. No cochins but I did find some beautiful runner ducks.
The white one has just the body type I'm looking for, stands nearly straight, very slender and light. The black pair are nearly just as nice. The father to the white girl took best in breed today I think. If anyone is looking for a blue runner drake I have one available. He is the brother to Lindsay's girls. Hatched in June and carries the chocolate gene.
Yeah I really like the look and so far seems nice with all the birds it's with. I love the crest but able to see at the same time, no trimming needed. I need to keep an eye on my girls feet looked at them today while holding her and seems the pads are cracking some. Not sure if from cold but only chicken with it I don't want her to get bumble foot. My daughters looks like it may have had a broken toe at one time but it don't limp or scream when handling foot/toe, and flexes it fine. Just gave them all a once over a few min ago and look good besides those two problems. I already talked to wife about making another coop for brabanter's maybe next year since my son don't want to show chickens I don't need to make one for him any more like I was planning. That is so cool, I think you will like your Brabanter all of them came out very nicely this year from jim. Jim wants more people to get into breeding them but I'm just got mine for fun. Though it's going to be awhile before he will ever lay an egg probably close to a year old but I'm hoping sooner LOL.
We're not making the show either like I had wanted. DH is helping out at the Utica zoo for their spootacular next weekend. I didn't want to load up 3 girlies and go by myself. Didn't have the extra gas money either being we're heading to Rochester tomorrow for the older 2's dentist appointments. Bummed a little, we've gone to both shows during the year for the past 3 years.

I think this is the 1st time inn 5 years I missed the fall show.
My grandson has started swimming with a club and today was their first meet in Albany, so we all had to go.
I'm exhausted. We left last night. I'm not good with motel beds, so it was a restless night for me, and it didn't help that we got our granddaughter in our room with us in the king bed as well...
It was fun and very different. I'm use to poultry & horse shows, not human swimming meets..![]()
No Problem ! life Happens ...We will meet some other time !![]()
It was nice to meet Chris & his wife & Lynzi..and to See Mesha & JO JO again...
