Been busy busy here the last few days, haven't been able to post much. I've been skimming and posting back to whatever catches my eye...I got a new phone and it's going to take me a while to get used to since I decided to. I do a majority of my posting that way. Anywho...Went up the shed a few minutes ago to do another check on the silkies crest feathers and I found mites AGAIN on my lavender hen. No one else, just her. WTH?!? I sprayed that whole coop down with neem, even sprayed some on them and she's still getting them. She's not infested like before but I did see a few. So I sprayed her crest feathers with the neem and rubbed it in. If they are still there tomorrow I'll give her another bath. I don't know what else to do about these stupid disgusting bugs. Of course I'm all skeeved out and itching all over now. UGH
Since the others were fine and bug free I'm not worried about them too much. Should I spray them with neem again though to be sure? I can't even remember the last time I did it but I'm thinking it was definitely over a week ago, maybe 2?
Miquwid ~ Sorry I know you asked at some point how my little splash silkie girl was doing and I totally forgot to respond to you. I kept her out of the coop and away from the others for 3 days and once I saw her looking more "alive", lifting her head again, and moving around more I placed her back in the coop. She's doing just fine. I'm still not even sure what the problem was. Her wing doesn't seem droopy anymore so who knows why it seemed so limp that evening. But she is doing much better, thanks for asking.
I'm so excited, I was talking Christmas last week with my mom and told her about the Brinsea incubator that I've been wanting and she's going to get it for me this year.

Can't wait to use that in the spring!
Still no eggs here from anyone. No new layers, no old layers. I don't get it. I'm just accepting the fact that there will be no eggs this winter from these free loaders! Still have the lights in the shed and in the new coop. They're also still on grower feed. Have to pick up more this weekend along with some more shavings. Which reminds me, how much exactly does one chicken need to eat a day in order to survive I guess you can say. Is there even a recommended amount? I feel like I'm feeding my birds soooooo much. Usually when I feed them I fill their bowl in the coop but when I feed everyone outside of the coop I just dump a pitcher of it out on the ground so they all get at it and scratch around at it.
