NY chicken lover!!!!

I just put up some lights around my run. My DD thought that I was crazy. I always say no christmas decorations till after Thanksgiving and she said that she was confused. I like the white lights, it lights the yard up nice so that I can see all around.

I'm cheap so I have a bag full of the extra bulbs and I always try to fix it first. If I can't then I throw them out. But I also won't keep them for super long times. I try to replace them once they start getting old. Last year I bought 6 boxes. They were on sale for $.75. I didn't know then what I was going to do with them..It was just a really good deal. How was I to know that it was exactly what I was going to need to put around the chicken yard

I have several boxes of Xmas lights, because my mom buys them on sale after the holidays and thinks I need them. I don't hang lights outside, don't have a place to really put them on a two story house. I did buy some solar colored lights one year to hang on the horse barn, but never did get to it. I hung one strand across the garage just to try them, they worked but not nearly as bright as electric.
This time of year Lowes has a recycleing drop off for Xmas lights.

Morning Everyone!
Does anyone know who I would call to have a deer removed from the side of the road?? Seems as tho one got hit by a car about 200 feet from my mailbox and it's been laying there since the weekend. I'm just worried about it attracting predators, although surprisingly nothing has touched it yet. I live on a State Route so I'm not sure who I would contact. I know I've seen deer picked up on this road before by someone in a yellow/orange utility truck but I'm not sure who exactly they are and who they work for.

Going to pick up the sand tonight from Lowes for the chicken bath, but am trying to remember: Was it use play sand or no to play sand?

I could be wrong here, but I think you want normal sand that is dusty. Its the dust that the chickens like to get on their skin. Play ground sand is washed so it isn't dusty.

I would call your town highway department. If they aren't the ones who take care of that they could at least put you in the right direction.

Picture time!

I broke up our pumpkin and gave it to the flock, they loved it!

This is my new EE, she absolutely loves Lady (the dog). If the dog is in the yard, the EE follows her as close as she can.
Lady got a venison bone yesterday (hubby finally got a deer) and the chickens were trying to steal it from her! I wish I had a video of it.

Lynzi, I agree with the town DOT, it the state has to do it they can tell you how to contact them. It is also yucky for your kids to have that dead deer there.

Two eggs already this morning. They were in the far corner under the poop boards, hard to rescue.
