NY chicken lover!!!!

My advice is to let them slowly get to know each other one at a time, that means one roo at a time. Good luck!

I was thinking of tossing our turkey carcass to the birds but then thought that perhaps what might be attracting vermin to some coops is the smell of meat.

I also was thinking that those big tall coops they sell might be better used tipped on their sides. Chickens don't need super tall coops imo. What they need is floor space. My hoops might be lower, but for me that's okay cuz I'm not that tall. Too around here there are still some coops from times gone by. Not to tall but lots of floor space. I may go around and take some pictures.

I did a quick candle on the BR eggs and it doesn't look good. Though it is only day 6. I'll leave them and wait till day ten. I'm still not sure about moving them to the turner. Too the person who has the egg on e-bay does seem to have a lot to sell. I only pay $8 for the eggs. I wonder just how fresh they were. There is a certain amount of trust in these things.

Rancher my girls don't leave any meat on the bones to attract varmints lol. I give it in the morning and by roosting time I pick up the bones I find and toss them in the compost. They are cleaner than when I cook and clean a turkey or chicken :D

The only varmin I have is mice. I sometimes see him in the compost pile but it's not because of the bones. He is near there every year. I'm sure it more the stuff in the compost they like.

Your Kyle and girl (did not get her name) are the most beautiful children

I have seen in a LONG time. God Bless, Aria

Thanks Aria, That's Tess ;)
Tell Kyle....Our Rooster Carlos is doing fine...and is so handsome.
He is very shy. The Hens put him in his place. Hopefully this will change
when he gets older.

And tell Tess....I love her hat. Regards, Aria

here kitty kitty kitty

that is a big cat. In typical cat fashion it found it just had to walk along a fallen tree on the ground rather than walk by it. Guess wild cats and domestic cats are pretty similar. Looking at the pics on the net and talking to a good friend who traps this is either a 35 lb bobcat or a large fisher. Big male kitty either way

RANCHER i like the coop just tall enough to walk around in and clean with ease. But yes floor space is important especially when they don't want to touch snow.

ARMOR i give them bones as well then compost. There might rats but the ferral cats keep at bay.

STONY wow that is a big cat i've seen some large ferrals before maybe 25 but 35 wow.

GRAMMA yeah someone near me shells showgirls. They are interesting. Regardless i prefer fully feathered birds.
