NY chicken lover!!!!

Are you 100% sure they were fertile?   Are they fresh eggs?   If you come up this way and want to bring some for me to try I will, or have someone else try.  If they succeed then you'll know it's you.  If not then you'll know it's your birds.

Any chance they are related?  Where did you get your birds?  Fertility/hatchability can be a problem with show lines.

They were definitely fertile, definitely have the little bullseye mark on the yolks. So just say I had an egg from the 10th, 11th, and 13th I cracked open the one from the 10th, saw the fertile mark and placed the last two in the bator. I haven't gotten an egg from my Silkie hen since. These eggs are from my lavender hen and lavender roo from Geri Godina.

You're using and LG? Could they be related ?

Quote: maybe those 2 are brother & sister .
Also A egg can be fertilized & not be fertile.( or Perfect ) Like there is something wrong with the egg or the sperm . women get fertilized eggs sometimes ..but we dont know it ...because it doesnt implant ...on the uterus ...it is shed with the period . Make Sense ?

Lynzi---love the pic of your little blue hen. She is adorable. Hatching out silkie eggs can be frustrating. I know as I have done it a few times. I didnt have a lot of luck using my lg to hatch the first 3 batches I tried. I got two new bators last christmas, one of which is a brinsea. I got a good hatch from the brinsea and an okay one from my hovabator. The key is in the humidity. I also find that just because it shows fertile doesnt mean it will develop. I discovered this from letting my silkie hen hatch out two sets of eggs. I candled them from the beginning and all were fertile, however she ended up kicking out an egg from each clutch. It proved out to not have progressed at all. I hope you will try your new bator. Or a broody hen.

Oh yeah, Rancher is just jealous that he doesnt have such a cute silkie!

Thanks Pharm! I won't give up fully until I try the Brinsea. I just hate the disappointment. I tried twice with this hens eggs and once with a batch that Ke5hde was so kind to set aside for me. The Brinsea was recommended to me from another Silkie breeder so I chose to go with that since they had such great results with it.

Yes it's the LG still air. I'm not sure if they related or not. She sent me five from her lavender pen which contained multiple Roos and hens.
I hope you don't mind my asking but .

1. where is the incubator placed in the house?

2. what is the temp of the room?

3. do you have turner?

Lots of folks have a hard time with the still LG still air incubators. That's why I didn't want one. Even this Genesis isn't perfect. I think the new one would be nice, but can't say. I've had to adjust this one twice since I've had it to bring the temp up. Also I have a new motor and fan set up since this one started acting funny, but haven't switched it out. The hatches have been okay but not great. That's why I load it up and hope for a 50% hatch rate.

Fertility rates are iffy things I think when you're dealing with show lines. We don't like the randy young roosters but they seem to be the ones who get the job done. I've a new Del rooster and he's a wienie compared to his dad.

Too I need to bring in some new blood otherwise everyone is related. Which is why I ordered BR eggs and will most likely order more. Plus some Dels. It's also why I traded my amer roo for an Aruacana. I've got a nice dark blue EE/amer roo but he's related to all the girls except my two oldest and I'm not sure they'll be laying come spring.
