Hello all! And Happy New Year!

Anyone looking for or in need of a Blue orpington rooster..or two? From a breeder, very handsome! $10 each or trade?

I really don't feel like butchering the birds in the cold! As it is I have one lone turkey who needs to head off to the freezer, soon!

Please check your sanity at the door.

Breella, a putty knife 1 1/2 to 2 inches wide works great for scraping poo. And yes, the feed bags work great for blocking the wind if you can get them to stay put. Glad your sister is safe, that's a scary situation to be in.

I use fleece staped to the front and back of my hoop coops. Breaths good and blocks the wind. I have heard or read to use burlap to cover openings too. I do have one hoop that has cardboard and then feed bags though. They're so open it's a wonder the birds don't freeze.

Now this am while pouring water in the tubs one stupid Black orp got right in the water and soaked his feet. Then when I took him out when out for a walk in the snow. What a nutter.

Keep in mind that roosters sometimes get water on their combs when drinking from tubs of water and that might cause frostbite.

Well, I have one lone chick. My temp spiked overnight and killed all the others, including one that had pipped and several that had pipped internally. I opened the eggs and they were all perfect. Most likely all would have hatched

So now I have to find a friend for the lonesome chick. At least she has tiny legs, so maybe I'll be lucky and it'll be a girl.

You're too far away or I'd give you one. I have a tiny BR that hatched. I'm surprised it is still alive. Can't hardly grow to be much.

HAPPY NEW YEAR Y' ALL. HOPE THIS ONE IS BETTER THAN THE LAST FOR US ALL.

I have one speckled Sussex hen that is always in the water tub.....it's a wonder she hasn't lost her toes to frost bite.
