NY chicken lover!!!!

Very dark and gloomy here with heavy rain. We are under a flood watch.

Crocheting is very easy but I was never able to teach my left handed mother. When I was 10 I bought yarn and a crochet needle from my sisters friend and taught myself. You don't know me but that proves how easy it is. I participated in a cancer "Blocks of Hope" granny square swap on here and haven't put the crochet needed or knitting needles down since. I'm hoping to add squares of more cancers and donate it to the oncology where my mother was. Someone asked me to make them one of these scarves and I've made at least a dozen in a month. Personally, I don't like them but they are fun and quick to make (and inexpensive) and everyone wants them. My next project is a green scarf that looks like a alligator (crochet).

Rancher, do you still have the Delaware's? Still would like to add a couple more this summer (egg or chick)

Personally, I like colors but most of them are neutrals.

Guess which hand I use. I'm a lefty and still managed to learn. Both Knitting and Crochet.

Yes I have Del but none to sell or egg to hatch at the moment.

Sorry forgot,

Morning everyone,

Icy out there. I plan to use some grit for traction. Tab's coming for birds. I can't have her slip. I think I'll carry them to her. Still it will be water world out there soon I"m sure. I really need a pond for it to drain into.

Take care and have a good day,

Rancher, it's to wet for me, Hicks.

Slip-sliding away..........not too much difference in the footing getting to my coop yesterday vs. today.....except yesterday I was slipping on ice and today I'm slipping on mud!

Breella ~ Let me know when you have those bags of feed if you don't already...I don't want to keep you waiting too long. And if you DO have them already I can make a trip out your way tomorrow if that works for you.

My MIL picked up one bag rather than the two I asked her for since I've been stuck at work. The store is closed tomorrow but I could grab some Monday since I am off then. I'm going to grab a few bags so I should always have at least 1-2 unopened bags at the house from now on.

The end of our driveway is a sheet of ice. Took 4 runs at it to get out today. The creek isn't too bad yet. Most of the snow is gone, so hopefully it doesn't get too high.

TOB sorry to hear about Merlin. I love his eyes.

Is SSS like the sonic boom noise to scare predators?

wouldn't a bb in the tail scare the living jeepers out of a hawk?

What about those guardian dogs? Does anyone have something like that for their outside chickens? We read about Great Pyrenees and Akbash, anyone know if these dogs will protect a flock? Would a dog like that go after predators, even hawks?

If you can hit a hawk with a BB or pellet, yes it would scare them. But if you can do that, please sign up with the Rangers as a sniper. Those things are FAST. (and I don't mean the bb)

Yes, those breeds of dogs can be taught to protect a flock of chickens. And yes, they will go after all predators once they see them. I don't think that dogs spend a lot of time looking up at the sky however.

SSS? Shoot, shovel and shut up.

(even on here. Big brother might be monitoring our activities. LOL) I'm not so good on the "shut up" part.....but I'm a lousy shot, so any shot I get off is just a warning shot.

I was out shoveling water toward the pond and finally gave up the third time I slipped on the ice. Don't need a wrenched back trying to keep my a** dry while shoveling water. LOL
