And if someone already has a bad immune system and you send it into over drive it can put them on they're arse for a few days. each person is different all bodies don't react the same way.

I know. I work with the elderly. I love it when they get their flu shot and claim they have the flu. I am right there. They are sleeping and eating. Nothing is different in their abilities. They are just feeling a little run down as their body reacts to building antibodies. If they ever really caught the flu, it would probably kill them. (which is the reason the visiting nurses are bringing the flu shot to their homes, so they don't go out in public to get their flu shot. )

Yeah its a pain. I've never had a problem with flu shot till last year. it knocked me on my arse fever, felt like throwing up and weak. I know dead virus and I've never had a problem before always laughing at those at work who did saying its in they're head. but for 2-3 days I didn't do anything but lay there. don't know what I did different from past years but wasn't fun. This year no problem at all. i dont think i ever had the vaccine till the marines because i never got sick it was rare like 1 in 3 years i would throw up. If i didnt throw up i went to school lol.I've never done the nose one because it's live and my daughter has heart problems we try to not bring stuff in if we can. But we don't limit her she still gets in dirt or in the coop, ruffs up all the animals.

Morning all. Still kinda warm out (31) and just a skim on the outside waterers this morning. My rir roo Bill decided to take a shot at me this morning as I was leaving the run. It was a half hearted sneaky one done twice. I turned around and went back in and cornered him. Picked him up and walked around the run talking to him. I explained that this behavior was unacceptable and that I do have more empty jars available for canning. I then proceeded to pet some of the girls who would let me and continued walking around the run, offering a little food to them as well. Turned him almost on his side while holding him and then did a thorough inspection of him. He is in fabulous shape. Good weight but not overweight, nice feathers, good skin and feet. Of course Thelma and Louise had to follow me around as I was doing this. I kept telling them they are chickens not dogs. I finally went to the door and put Bill back down on the ground. What was interesting to me is that Louise went after Bill, jumping at him and pecking at him. I must have lowered his ranking in her eyes. Anyways, it didnt last long as he put her in her place. H didnt come near me again but hopped up on the roost in the run and started crowing after I left the run. I didnt have to be mean to him at all. Just a quiet relaxed tone of voice and holding him seemed to get the message across. I have noticed Louise spending more time next to Bill so hopefully he has been mating her and I will get more rir chicks in the spring. I really like the hardiness of this breed. Another cold snap is coming and it doesnt seem to faze them at all. My sexlinks on the other hand, are having a rough time with the severe cold. I am going to hatch some eggs from the barred rocks (which should be black sexlinks because bill will be the dad) and see how they do. The nice part about them is that you know from day one which are pullets and cockerals.

We get that question about the flu shots at the pharm all the time. Its a dead virus. If you get sick, its because you already had something going on. Some people just dont take it well because of their immune system. I got the flu mist because of my egg allergy. Other than some nasal issues, it was fine. Not recommended for everyone though.

I am actually the least germaphobic person out there but I refuse to get the flu shot, the last time I did was about 10 years ago, coincidentally that is when I had the worst flu of my life and had to be hospitalized, but I take my chances and usually get a bit of the flu every year but this year I started living more naturally and have not gotten it

I picked up new roads on my paper route, these are in Kirkville, and one customer has a mailbox with two hens painted on it and today when I stopped to deliver their paper I could hear their rooster! I love finding customers with chickens!

I don't like that the biggest of the new roads is kind of a main road with a few sharp blind turns. I'm afraid of being hit while on the shoulder delivering the paper at 3am-4am

Very cute, when we replace our mailbox I am going to have someone paint it
