It would need a larger coop...eat more food ...and if you think chicken poop is bad ...how big is theirs ?

Can you imagine cleaning out their cage / coop ...

My husband is working on a job with a fellow who has goats and is coming home with lots of goat lore. One of the favorite tidbits is that you can have them clear the land, they will eat all the scrubby stuff. That would save me a lot of time with the brush hog...the downside is that they eat everything, the shrubs you want, gardens, sheds...he said they are kind of delicate, and if they get sick it is easy to have them die, not much reserve to get through illness. I encourage him in his interest. I like both sheep and goats, they are a nice size, but the birthing in the middle of the night thing is troublesome.

It's in the little mall on Rt 20 east CAz where the McDonalds is. It's behind tops. There is a building that a veterinary office is in his store is on the side of the vets office.

Oh that's not far from me at all. I would make the drive out there to get it. I actually went grocery shopping at that Tops just a couple of weeks ago to see if it would be any better than me going to Wegmans (I hate Wegmans and usually send my husband).

I do! At least a pair. Let's see a fox get that bird.

They put ostriches in with other barnyard animals...sheep, goats, etc....the local predators don't know what to make of the large birds and it cuts down on predation. AND Ostriches can kill with their strong legs. So a couple of Emu's around the place is a GOOD idea.

It must be reeeeeeally cold out there today...today is the first day the ducks didn't leave the coop the minute I opened it. As a matter of fact, I opened it when I returned home from school this morning at 8 and they are still in there! Hmmm....

You can learn to do anything a vet can do for your goats, if you wish to do so. However the most common reason a vet is needed for any livestock is vacinations. And birthin' those babies, if something isn't right. And hoof care....but that you can learn to do yourself....but a vet until you do learn.

My ducks were hatched by a chicken. But you need a larger chicken to hatch ducks are their eggs are half again as big as chicken eggs. Your silkies are not gonna be able to hatch more than one or two at a time. IF these muscovies I have are as polific as the info I am reading, then I will have lots of little ducklings to GIVE YOU. And probably sooner instead of later.
Thanks Cass! This is great info! I'm big into nail cosmetics and would love to do hoof care! That would be a big perk to have a hoofed pet! I keep looking at these cute toenails on these little chickens thinking, Oh hot pink would be soooo cute! They have those long ET fingers/toes (?), on their middle digit! But I'm not sure if it's ok to paint their little toenails so I haven't done it yet! When they get bigger I'll have to trim the feathers away from their little toenails so they can "sport the look" of their mani/pedi's. I see what you mean about them hatching big eggs! They are such little birds.

I hope you get prolific muscovies! They are some brilliant looking ducks. Just curious why did you choose the Muscovy? They seem like a very nice breed! Don't tempt me with those ducklings! We only have one spare bathtub until we move and the chickens are using it! We'd love Muscovy ducklings!

I love the mini cows I was doing some research on them the other week. DH always said that I could have a farm...a Mini Farm with all mini animals...Mini chickens, mini horses, mini goats, mini pigs, and mini cows. They are so cute, but very expensive! Look Lynzi they even have mini Scottish highlanders! ( I found the picture on the internet):celebrate Pic is from a farm in CA
Yes, these are the ones I want! Not the full size ones. They are just so cute!!!
