Gramma about the broody do whatever is best for your flock, personally If my other coop was out my driveway and in my yard I would just let her sit on eggs. Otherwise try breaking her feed her fav treat outside let some of that winter coldness strip her of her broodiness.
Brella that is what my silkie looks like next to our roo and they mate which is awesome I can't believe he can be so gentle. We still don't think he's mated with the brabanter but he sure puts up with her and he lets her sit on top of him takes his food!
Since my chickens free range anyway I'm going to make the run an addition to the coop so that there will be no run, the wood frame is already there I just need to hardware cloth it. I'm going to reposition the roost and put in a back door. I just need to dig the ground under the run and put stone and hardware cloth to make it reinforced like the rest of the coop. Then I was designing a covered feed and water station.
