NY chicken lover!!!!

Morning!
Well I have 1 chick. After that smaller egg stopped moving yesterday I decided to candle it yesterday afternoon. No movement whatsoever, no internal pips. The other egg was still alive and well, even had a pip in it by yesterday afternoon. Cracked open the smaller egg and it was completely shrink wrapped in the egg. No movement or breathing was coming from the chick. :-(

The other chick hatched over night last night and is drying out this morning. I was looking at this morning and it only has 4 toes on one foot, 5 on the other but the 5th toe is missing a nail-go figure! My luck it'll be a roo too! :-/ Owell, it does have a nice light color to it though. Can't wait to see what it looks like when it's all fluffy.

nothing cuter than a Sumatra mama on eggs. No we are not.
Boooooo. Some one kidnap stony and wife and bring them to the party.

Sorry to hear about your one chick and the 4 toes/no nail. I noticed I had to really pump the humidity up on these silkie eggs. Normally I can run 60's I was running 70's with these things.

I have two I think I have to make boots for side toe on one foot curling under but I think that was temp/humidity problems. I do have a 4/5 toed cuckoo but all others turned out ok.

What are you incubating with?

I used my Brinsea for the first time with this hatch and since there is no way to really measure the humidity in it I asked and asked and asked what people did as far as water and the well in the middle of it and they almost all said they filled one side days 1-18 and filled both sides completely days 18-21. So that's what I did. I need to find a small enough hygrometer to put under that dome so I know what it is inside there.

too far. I am sitting on the Mass border. Way too far.
Ah **** I thought you was closer.

Ah ok might look into a digital one with a probe sorta like this one http://www.snakeestate.com/exo-terra-digital-hygrometer-with-probe.html I'm not sure how big of openings you have for vents to get it in there though.

Well I was cruising facebook today cause I just woke up and b-day and I saw this made me chuckle cause if I had a pig I'd be doing this also.

Lynzi, I got a digital thermometer/hygrometer from Incubator Warehouse and love it. Of course I obsess about checking it 14 times a day, but it helped me hatch like a maniac last year. It has a probe that fits through the vent hole or under the lid without too much fuss. I even put the whole thing inside the incubator with the probe sitting on top of the eggs. Records high and low temps and very easy to read.

Aaaand then there were none...wth!?!?! I can't believe this, just went upstairs to check on the chick and it stopped breathing. I give up! The woman I got these eggs from offered to send me more but the devastation of not having these hatches work out is really starting to get to me.

I wish MINE were laying so I could hatch some! I'm having more sent, although the same thing could happen all over again especially since they are hatched. I could get 6+ and only few end up developing. We'll see ...
