NY chicken lover!!!!

Morning everyone,
Happy Valentines Day!
We got a good foot or more of snow overnight. Shoveled the driveway with DH this morning, only takes us 10 mins surprisingly. Brought my son to school, only had a 2 hr delay. Came back home and began shoveling paths to the ducks, chickens and rabbits. By the time I got up to the rabbits I took one more shovel of snow and twisted my back! :-( now I need to walk around with it arched back because I can't even bend over to sit down on the couch to lay down. So this sucks. Can't get up to the rabbits to finish shoveling them out, gonna have to ask DH to do it when he gets home from work and then feed and water them for me. That'll be my Valentines Day gift. Lol

Oooooo Metella did you see this? You could make sex links with your speckled Sussex and salmon fav, I wonder if the Roos would take on the good size and temperament, if you felt like separating them from the flock I would be more than happy to test hatch ;)
Rancher  you said something about sex links with your Delawares and needing a big rooster. I have been thinking about getting a Delaware, Light Sussex or a Salmon Faverolle so that I can hatch some sex links out with my Speckled Sussex. This info was from that post about crosses, Didn't know if you knew all your options?

Shoveled out 2 feet of snow to all three coops and the driveway. Kill me now. Have to work tonight. Took a few pics. Here is what I came downstairs to find earlier.

knocking at my door! So I took pity and

hooked them up with a hot brunch! The big guy Bill

Keeping an eye on things. Thelma and Louise went for a stroll

to the front and back to see what chicken daddy was doing.

The 6 foot snowbank from shoveling and the front roof of their coop barely visible above the bank.

Pathways only today!

I have Delwares of course, Birchen Marans, EE's, one Aruacana roo, one RIR hen, 3 Columbian rock hen with eggs coming next month, 5 Barred Rock hens, 1 Sussex hen, and three frizzle hens.

I keep the Aruacana roo and an EE roos for colored eggs. Breed doesn't matter to me so much as I get colored eggs of various shades.

My Dels are only with a Del roo and two frizzle hens which don't lay but I love them just the same. I have two coops of Birchens each with a Birchen roo. I add a couple of EE hens to those coops cuz I'll get olive egger hens. The EE's and that are together too. EE eggs of course can be seen anything else in there won't get hatched.
That is awesome! Thanks for straightening me out

(You'd think that when you use the spell check that it would recognize chicken breed names and simple abbreviations)

See now here's the thing. A SNOWBLOWER is not a want it's a NECESSITY. Get yourself and electric start and you're good to go. Just cleaned out the end of the drive. No way could I have done it with a shovel. My shoulders hurt from wrassling that snowblower around the yard and all. It could use another swipe but I'm beat.

Just got back from TSC with feed. Patty says chicks and ducks come on the 26th.

I know, we definitely should have invested in one this year. We were actually going to get the attachment piece for the John Deer, the front plow piece? Not sure what happened to that idea...

Now if I had a John Deer I would sooo have one. You gotta get one before you hurt yourself bad. Once the back goes can the rest be far behind? I'm not kidding here.
