Ok so wife gets home off work at 930 we go to cash check from my mom to buy a pellet stove at 1030. No one has pellet stoves in stock except lowes who has like 3 or 4 and that's it. So our last check is home depot and we ask them like we did at tsc and lowes if they know where a pellet stove dealership is. They pointed us in the right direction and since we didn't know area used the gps to find the school its by. We walk into the store and start talking to the guy he's telling us that they are on sale at other places and showing us what he can order cause he don't have anything in stock. We have 2k to work with so he suggest to try tsc they have them for 700 on clearance. We told him sold out. He's calling around another store or two or his dealers I don't know. We don't like what he could find and was about to max us out. We get talking about being on the weatherization program for 6 years and the only answer we get on when we will get it is that we are on the list. He's upset and dumbfounded on how we are on there so long. His company contracted with them and it use to be only a year wait normally. So he tells us he got a letter yesterday about renewing with them to be able to place bids but he threw the paper away. He goes to his office and digs the paper out of trash and starts calling around and gets us in contact with a higher up person who says they will help with a different program ran through the state. This gentleman ends up doing something I would never think of a store doing. First he knocks $600.00 off a pellet stove we like and we tell him we will have to think about it and try to come up with more money that we borrowed the 2k we had. He then tells us just pay him as we get the money. He throws in free pipe for the exhaust, used but still good. Sells the pellets at his cost for this year only. This is done with no back ground check no credit check or anything we could take this thing and run. We gave him our address but he has no idea if it's real or not. Talk about trusting and caring person. I mean we talked about the pipes in my house and the space heaters and such with him also and we talked to him for a bit found out he's a fellow veteran along with his son. He don't make people pay for full amount when they buy stuff. Showed us a receipt where one person paid full 214 for the ton another person paid 89 cause its what they had at the time. I know home depot wouldn't do that or walmart or any other stores. He also told us to save 500 and install it our selves that it wasn't hard instead of trying to sell us an install also. I mean yeah he's most likely still making money on this but not many would cut they're easy funds off an install job or take money off the price when already willing to let people pay at will.

This guy was very nice and helpful and caring he was breaking down cause he was upset that veterans are on the list for 6 years. My wife felt like hugging him cause it was sad to see him so upset. It would take a few pages to write what all happened in the store so summing it up with just this post. Needless to say we are not buying pellets from any where else even if they are cheaper else where. I'm sure some of the older folks might be use to mom and pops stores doing this type of stuff and working with you but this day in age its far and few between it happens. This was a first for us and we are thankful for all his help.
I have a feeling this guy would do this for anyone not just veterans he just seems that type of person and I'm ashamed to admit but if I was him I don't think I would have done half the stuff he did to help us out both with stove and with the weatherization program. Time to improve my self besides the not drinking and think more of others.
Ok now my second thing I got lucky with is I get home off work and I'm sitting watching tv. I decide to check bator and see it's not on!!! It's not pluged into the extension cord my sons tablet charger is. So I plug it in and its still not on. The extension cord aint plugged into the wall!! I plug it in I check the temp in bator and it's 66 in there. Well I just candled alittle bit ago and lucked out they was all moving still.

WOW. What an emotional day for y'all. I am so glad you were able to afford the pellet stove you wanted. And that someone in the world has stepped up to help you resolve some of your problems. (See, prayer works....cuz I am sure some of us have been praying for you and yours)

Keep sober....you want to be able to recognize the next time something wonderful happens and celebrate it...SOBER. (Not to meantion the extra money from not buying beer can be put in a can and used to buy pellets next year. Just remember not to feed those pellets to the chickens)

Have you ever seen the movie "Pay it Forward"? If you haven't you need to find a copy of it and watch it. I think it's a book too, but I am not sure on that. The movie has a powerful message that you will appriciate right now.

Those eggs will be just fine. Momma chickens get off the nest for up to 2 hours at a time (depends on outside temp how long they stay off....longer if they can find a babysitter. LOL) Looking forward to seeing pics of your chicks.

JLaw, great good fortune. There certainly are good people out there and they make us all better.
Lynzi, sorry about your back. My favorite thing is a foam roller or a big exercise ball. The even pressure of rolling on my back on the foam roller puts things back where they belong.

I have developed the stupid cold that has been plaguing everyone. It has finally gotten me. I will try not to whine.

I have a 5 gallon inside in summer they have a pool with slide only seen one use slide tho got 3 male black Swedish and a female plus another female rouen

I'm expecting 4 Blue Swedish ducklings. Perhaps some time we can trade either eggs or ducklings. Not sure how long it takes before they lay. I really need to do research. Schools are close this week so no volunteering I should use the time.

Everyone else:

I have a broody hen. I thought she was but after I moved her to the coop with the EE roo I'm pretty sure. She was on the nest last night and the big pile of poo tells me I'm right. I'm going to leave her. She has two EE eggs right now but I'm going to stick a few more in there. BM's I guess. I'm getting plenty of egg for now so I can afford to play around.

Question: How long to roosters need to be on grower? I have two I'd like to move and one of them is pretending to crow. He's not quite found his voice yet. I'd like to move him to an adult coop for the time being.

Our snowblower died yesterday morning, when we needed it the most! Got about 10" of snow in the storm, and it is snowing again this morning.
Got over a cold 2 weeks ago and then went to bed with a sore throat last night. Guess ill be contending with another cold. Still trying to fight off the NyQuil fog.
Hubby got me two of the 4' grow lights that were on sale at CM yesterday with the 20% sale. Now to find a place to set them up. Also got some of the taller tray humidity covers. Think i'll start some seeds soon, maybe Brussels sprouts first?
Stay warm everyone. I'm ready for spring.

Ouch Lynzi ! That is tough ...
if it is a pulled muscle you need to stretch it ...out... bend that back ...so it doesnt tighten up ..
Maybe a nice warm shower to loosen it up some ...
A body needs balance ...I try to do set ups & leg lifts every day ..Strong tummy muscles = strong back .
I am the only one in the house who does not have a hurt back ..
I do most of the shoveling ...

I try to tell myself it is good Exercise ! Im getting too much today .
This is why my chickens go out in the snow to my deck ..
The joy of a Dust Bath ...turn up the volume you can hear little clucks of Joy

A PT once told me to lay on my stomach on the bed and lift opposite arm and leg. It does help but I forget to do them. Wouldn't it be nice if we craved exercise like we do chocolate ? Perhaps we need someone on here to post a reminder everyday?

They can come on everyday and say, "OKAY YOU COUCH POTATOES GET UP OFFA THAT THANG AND STRETCH THOSE MUSCLES! "

I think it would be nice to have an exercise commercial or commercials that come on and say, "We interrupt Duck Dynasty so you can get up and do some crunchies, instead of eat them ! " or " We interrupt this program so you can put down that bag of crunchies and do some you lazy thang!." Oh and my favorite would be is if they had an exercise commercial that was just, KC and the Sunshine Band playing , "Shake your bootie, shake your bootie for three minutes " I could shake it and rearrange the living room at the same time.

I'm sitting looking out the window at a hawk of some sort in a tree. It is far enough away that I can't get near it to scare it away. Every once in a while I think that I hear one, but it ends up being a blue jay or some other bird. I have't seen a hawk since I got my chicks. This morning while I was out doing my AM chores I heard it and it wasn't the same call that I have been hearing. I look around and find it, but it isn't to close, but I know that it is close enough that I know that it is watching my birds. I keep an eye on it to see if it has moved. I just hope that my boy is on his game!

Talking about my boy...He has started to lose his points on his comb. His first 2 have fallen off and part of his waddle is starting to come apart. It is just hanging on. I want to catch him and rip it off, but I know better it will fall of when it is ready.

Can't wait...It is going to be close to 50 the end of the week!! Spring is getting closer!

So YOU are the one that gave me this cold.

Talk about long distance germs. Vitamin C (LOTS of it...1000mg several times a day) and Zinc Lozenges are keeping my symptoms in check.

Lap...that computer not having post button happened to me once. (or twice) (or three times) Seems that somehow I had gotten logged out of BYC and the second I logged back on I could post again. The first time it happened I figured I was at fault. The second and third time I "paid attention to my surroundings" and noticed that both of those times it happened right after and auto-update made to my computer by Windows. So check that out. See if you just need to log back into BYC to be able to post.

Morning all! Terrorists spent most of the day wandering the pathways yesterday. Woke up to snow again today. Bah humbug. Have to go to work soon.

Jlaw---the Lord helps those who help themselves. Staying sober and asking people for help is a good thing. That man sounds like he knows a lot of people and maybe he can suggest someone (a contractor) who would be willing to come look at your house and make of list of things that need to be done in order of priority. If you can get the major fixes done first, the little things can wait. As someone already said, pay it forward. I always try to live and act by that as I have had many people help me out over the years so I try to help out others as well. A little kindness goes a long way.

Pyxis---I won the naming contest? Yeah!

Time to go get ready for work. Drive should be interesting. Later all.
