NY chicken lover!!!!

Might want to carry the gun with you for a few days, or until you kill the little buzzard. (can't say the other word on here, family friendly) If he/she found food it will be back. Until you stop it. Permanantly.

So............problem taken care of - permanently.

He came back and the Beagles had him in a corner....

We heat with pellet stoves, but the electric has increased a lot the past couple months. Last month it was up $40 and this month it is up $68 from that to 248.

Glad to hear that. I know you didn't want to have to dispatch an animal permanantly....however if you have livestock (chickens are considered livestock) you are going to have to defend them against things that want to kill them. And Possums WILL kill your livestock. Eat your eggs. Tear the head off your chicks and kill your laying hens. So give the dogs a treat and thank them for defending your chickens from that wild possum.

I'll tell ya'll one thing. I love this egg poacher I got. I use it more of a mcmuffin cooker though. It holds 2 bantam eggs or 1 bantam 1 small but that's pushing it. I break the yolks and put alittle bacon grease so it slides out easier. I use that same grease for like 10 times before washing and redoing a few drops of grease in it. Just thought I would share it since I just got done eating an egg and cheese bagel. I use one like this and love it. So nice being able to let it sit on stove and walk away with out worry of it burning in a few min. Only down side is eggs are kinda moist when done but I use paper plate and flip them on that a time or two or just toast stuff alittle more and let the egg soften the bread up.
I use little silicone muffin "papers" in a pan of water the same way :) my kind love their own personal eggie cakes
Furnace fixed for another $160. I've spent enough this winter to buy a new one. Anybody else have their electric bill double? Read it was because the coal and atomic plants are going off line prematurely due to new regulations and there is a shortage of natural gas, so the generation plants are burning fuel oil.
Our electric has gone up a lot too (in Vermont), so happy I done heat with electric!
Happily wood burning!! Although we have gone through most of the cut wood now, hoping winter leaves soon......
We have a outdoor wood furnace that is awesome but we have used up the wood we stored for winter and hubby has been going and cutting wood around our land, can't wait till spring!

Second day with no heat other than a kerosene heater and fourth time the furnace has quit. This is getting old in a hurry! I am so glad I exercised a bit of self control and didn't order eggs or chicks yet.

So sorry . Did your furnace break or are you out of power .
We have this whistle that our furnace is making ...also our hot water is 150 degrees ....its better now we turned it down ..whistles still is driving me nuts ...

It's been a cold winter... Our house is poorly insulated ( built in 1880) luckily my husband Insulated the basement this year bc we already burned all our wood and he cut down some dead trees and we had to use a electric heater in our bathroom. Our electric bill skyrocketed! We have wood again and and I have the incubator in the hall upstairs above the Woodstove. I've figured out how to keep good temps with the LG with the Woodstove going. I keep the doors upstairs closed to keep it warm overnight and as it gets to hot I can open doors. Today is day 7 I candled yesterday most of mine are clear yours seem to be good. A shadow? Is that what I'm looking for? Thank you so much for the eggs!!! :)
