Actually I researched it and yes ash from a pellet stove will work. Will have to make sure I save all my ash now .

For those that were looking for a specific breed of chicken at Tractor Supply and are not too far from me in the Syracuse area, I'm heading to the Cobleskill TS tomorrow to meet the woman selling me these silkies. If that store has what you are looking for I can pick whatever it is up for you.

Yes, people are reporting regularly that they have birds just found dead on floor.  I lost one myself....several other people have lost birds who were find on Monday and dead on Wednesday.  Sorry for your losses....but that does mean you have room for NEW chicks.  Right?

So my KC drake has been limping around all day. Not sure what's going on. I managed to get a hold of him earlier to see if it was anything visible-cuts, scrapes, etc. there was nothing there. I tried putting him in the "grow out" pen in the shed that I just created yesterday but when I went in to check on him he flew out and was walking around in the shed. I feel bad cuz he's trying to keep up with the others but when they reach their destination he immediately lays down. What should I do?

Look at the bottom of his feet. If there are bumps, kinda like carbunkles, can't think of another way to explain it, or large swollen bumps, he might have bumblefoot. I'm dealing with it on one of my geese...not fun.
