NY chicken lover!!!!

Called the post office still no chicks..... I am so anxious!! I looked at the tracking number it said estimated delivery date is tomorrow!!! That is too long!!!
When I ship chicks, they tell me the delivery date when I check them in. So the shipper would know how long it would take. Are they day olds? Unless there are extenuating circumstances, chicks usually do well shipping for a couple of days.

I'm not sure.. I got an email that they were shipped from hatchery yesterday @ 8am... Then to a sorting facility in Mansfield OH at 7:30pm last night...
Then to a sorting facility in Cleveland this morning then it just said departed in transit estimated delivery Wednesday. I hope they are OK!

Depending on how the day goes, and more importantly how Little Girl's attitude that day is, I'll be there. 45 min trip isn't too bad. Any suggestions on what to bring? Main dish, side dish, dessert?

Evening Everyone,
Back home again for the last time. It's so sad to come back here to no chickens or ducks or chicks or eggs in the incubator even! What's even more sad is I found out after talking with the "board of directors" of this lake community yesterday that poultry (or animals other than household pets) are strictly prohibited from being raised/kept on any property of this lake community.

I kind of figured that would be the case since I found out those are the same rules of the other lake that runs into this one. The guys said to me "So unless you are planning on keeping them in your house..." I was like NOPE! No Way! No How!

So on to Plan B, I'm wondering if I could keep them at my mom's for the time being. She's an hour away from this new house but the only problem with that is, I KNOW there are no roosters allowed in her town. I just wish I knew people who lived in or around Woodstock, CT that maybe would help me out and allow me to keep my small flock with them until we bought a property of our own. Woodstock is one of the largest agricultural parts of CT and it's shame of all places we've found to live we found we love but is one of very few that won't allow poultry. But what am I to do? Tell my husband, no I don't want to live in the nicest house we've found because I can't have my chickens here? I can already see where that convo would head! LOL

I'm putting a pork shoulder on the smoker, there will be chicken quarters, Danielle's making homemade Mack and cheese and taco dip. I would say bring whatever you would like.

I absolutely know DW loves me since she's taken care of the chickens while I was away. EVEN while working a full time job.

Though I must confess to mulling over getting rid of them in favor of having travel money to see the grandkids. How do I decide? Do I down size or go whole hog? I just had another B. Marans chick born. As soon as the chicks grow I can decide who to replace.

I suppose the way the world is going flying might now be safe much longer.

Still I can't give up Frenchy and Buckwheat. Who by the way is doing much better. Strange as it many seem she's thinned down. Her stomach was so swollen it was like you carrying a beach ball between your legs. Now she seems a lot better.

That would be the story of my life. I give up the chickens and then air travel security would plummet.
