NY chicken lover!!!!

Not the end of anything - in fact all else is going very well with the chickies - all my brooder peeps are teens now and doing well ... and it looks like only one roo for sure in that young batch and I got a splash Copper Marans ! :) So I'm not all gloom and doom ... ha ha

Just that I took my time with these people and really was sincere about taking back any roos ....

Naw - the dogs will keep anyone from testing how far they can come in .... Ask Pyxis - my English Shephard has a deep and intimidating bark on him and even the goldendoodle has a scary bark .. but she will be gone before the door knob finished turning !

Also on the positive end of things - I found two more pumpkins in my weed/garden ! :)

No ...we are looking to rehome our ducks for the winter ..He has a pig & a pond ..he said he would take our ducks ...
He gave us 4 chickens / laying hens a few years ago ..so we thought he could take the ducks if pigs would put up with them ..
it sounds like they would kill a duck if they could kill a chicken ..also a pregnant sow might be more territorial than normal

Just for winter? Or permanently? Ducks in the snow are soo cute!

Evening all. A tad chilly this morning but it warmed up nicely. Spent the morning doing errands and then came home and let the fowl out. The silkies stayed locked up and Im glad because not long after I let the terrorists out a big grey bird of prey cruised through low and slow. Clyde and The Duke immediately sounded off and got the girls under cover. This bird is trying real hard to get a free chicken dinner. Might be time for sss. Its hard to spot as it blends in well with the color of the tree trunks. Chicken momma is not happy.

I put the two silkie juves in Legolas coop last night. Nothing too bad has happened. Little miss diva dramaqueen Eowyn has been witchy to them but too bad. Poor things are acting like they have been punished. The juves coop is a little less crowded and Little Big Man was too cute crowing this morning when I went out. I kept asking him what did he have to say and he would flap a little then crow. He truly is Little Mans son. He used to do the same thing for me. Both pens are mad cause I didnt let them out but after seen that hawk go by Im glad. Better safe than sorry.

Double duty tomorrow means an early start. See you all on the flip side!

Permanently ...just before the winter ...Im trying to condense my coop to one ..I use the baby coop for storage of bedding for the winter ..
Babies got to grow a bit more ..still & I could use the cage the ducks are in for the babies

That is too bad that you don't want to keep them. The aren't any harder then chickens in the winter... I love my ducks!! I have 3 under my broody I can't wait for them to hatch!!

OM. I've missed so many posts.

HOWEVER I have a question. I'd like to move the TV to the other side of the room. How hard is it to move the cable to the other side.

We have it up through the floor from the basement now. Is it hard to disconnect it from the box and just move it. Drilling a hole through the floor on the other side?

We can't just run it around to the other side without crossing a doorway. So I figure it has to go up through the floor.

hope ya dont mind my 2 pennys worth ..you can do that and it will be fine ..just remember when you rehook the cable it will take awhile for it to reboot ..mine takes about 10 minutes or so ..you may not want to do it just before your shows come on or ya may miss some of it ..just a heads up ..

WNY EGGER - well - thanks for the input!!! I want more before I send a negative letter - but hell - just to toss off two live animals and drive away ????

I was HERE all day yesterday - **** - not only was I super nice and talking about chicken keeping to them - but I had them look at all of the pullets and no pressure to buy them ... they could have looked and walked away - they were just off a heat lamp this spring ....

Help me here - because I am so tired of trying to be a nice person and getting nothing - not even common courtesy back in life. I want to call the cops on them - but this is such a little thing ... I won't.

I agree with Marquisella & AQHA - these people sound like low lifes who wouldn't care how low they stoop to hurt people/animals. Send a civil letter as mentioned, then have nothing else to do with them. You don't want to have to deal with a 'hillbilly feud' mentality - it could get very ugly very quickly - remember - your friends here know you are the bigger/smarted person

Yeah, Metalla, Telling them off could feel good initially, but it would only make for bad feelings, and they could be nasty, and it could escalate...so what everyone else said. But the most important reason to be low key is how you will feel in the long run. I never feel good if I over react and loose my cool. Take the high road for your own sake, they aren't worth it, the potential damage is done...
