NY chicken lover!!!!

Still haven't heard back from Tab on the chickenstock so sent her a text this morning. If I end up doing it what does everyone think about May 30th? That way rancher should be back to go and it won't hopefully be too cold or too hot yet..

Been extremely busy starting the new business but love it and of course school starts back tomorrow so will have lots of new eager minds to teach.

We will have the first shipment of Poulin grains feeds in stock within 2 weeks and we are also officially carrying Blueseal feeds. Husband is working on some slab wood shelves I want it to look like an old time general store so am trying to go rustic. Working with Agway on possibly carrying their line of feed but I am happy with Poulin so will see.

Putting in orders of chicks now is their anything anyone wants? Shoot me a message and let me know. The Amish have preordered over 1500 chicks from me and I have worked out a deal with some of them to keep them under heat lamps here. I love my Amish neighbors they are all so friendly and helpful.

Debating on whether to start the bators going I keep seeing everyone talk about it makes me want to start will see how long I can hold off. Actually would love some new Orpington lines in with mine so does anyone have any eggs for hatching?

Ok will let everyone know if I hear from Tab today time to get off here and make some dog treats.

The 30th should work for us. We'll be coming back on Thurs. the 28th or thereabouts. Not sure what we'll bring to eat, but something. Not sure what for the auction thing but something crocheted I'm sure. My goal is to use up all my yarn. Maybe a book or two. Any readers here?

Can't get the Practical Poultry at TSC anymore and I'm royally ticked. They have a new supplier.

Only thing I want are some more Columbian Rocks. Chicks or eggs. Mine are still not laying.

EE's in the coop with them are laying so don't know what the deal is.

I also will be hatching some Birchens no matter what.

The 30th works for me! Any time I have advanced notice I can make it happen. I might even donate some cemani eggs to the auction, if they're laying well when the time comes. Probably just a few of them and then something else I can donate more of. Looking forward to the thread for it starting!

Boskill - maybe you can sweet talk and strike a deal with Pyxis to hatch a dozen for you .... she is GREAT at incubation - and hatched out 3 of my current millies :) (I only gave her 4 millie eggs) And a hen hatched out 2 more .... out of 2 ... so they have a high but not guaranteed hatch rate.

:) I will NOT get an incubator - because then I will hatch out WAY more than I should have ..... and this is what I would get from DH .....

Handmade items, chicken themed items and wine are popular for the raffle table. Same with purebred hatching eggs. Last year I won a beautiful wood cutting board and a wine basket. I donated a bag of cracked corn. For lunch, it is all dish to pass. Usually those that drive farthest being the paper goods or non-refrigerated items. JLaw brought juice, because that is where he works. I brought ketchup, mustard, relish, pickles, salad dressings, fruit dip and a side dish of some sort. Others brought the hamburgs, hot dogs, salad, fruit, veggie trays, crockpot items. Whatever you like. It all pulls together into a wonderful meal.
I already have picked up a few chicken items as I find them at sales. Hubby is also really good at spotting stuff and brings it home

Thanks for the ideas. Looking forward to being inventive for the raffle - have to put my brain into motion.....

Sometimes I feel sorry for our 'other halves' - but it passes quickly

. So - if I could get Pyxis to hatch for me, how much are your eggs??

$12 a dozen and No shipping - as I see Pyxis often ....I can just hand them over to her. :) Check with her about hatch times and arrangements as she may be hatching out some of her own to sell - but she knows how small my millie eggs are .... :)

Lol, they fit in the spaces not filled with my other eggs  I'll probably be hatching for chickenstock, so the incubator will be on.

that's right - I do remember you saying you just put them in between the other eggs :) Amazon such little peeps hatched with full sized peep and went right in the brooder with them - never had an issue - they were right in there for food and water .... but I did have nice heat - so they were never piled on and smushed .... but they grew up from inside the egg until now in a mixed sized flock.
