NY chicken lover!!!!

Have you checked out GFF site lately. Cemani's have dropped in price and they have chicks available now. $200 for Cemani's and $100 for Svart Hona Swedish Black hens. Minimum order with warranty for 72hrs after arrival is only six. I don't want mailed chicks or eggs though, to much of a risk.
I planned on getting some crossed eggs in PA and some crossed chicks here, but now I plan on just going with a crossed pair or trio here in NY so I can start a flock of fibro chickens now. We did plan on going to Florida again this yr but it looks like it's going to wait until next yr. Hope to pick up some Svart Honas from GFF next year when we go down, maybe the price will come down some more. I don't even want them to make $ off them, just to have a nice size flock for meat birds. Fibro melanistic chicken meat is super good for you, better than blueberries or broccoli Lol.

I was going to ask if anyone has received Greenfire Farms Chicks in the mail in NY? They don't sell eggs.

Thought I'd share! Just hatched my first batch of chicks over the last 24 hours. I set 37 barnyard mixes of my own and two friends. Threw out 4. Went into hatch yesterday with 33 eggs. Started hatching at 6:40am yesterday and 24 have hatched by this morning!!!! So cool!
Can't wait to find out the final total!

Woo! I have quail hatching today, popping out like little popcorn :) I had five hatch in a fifty minute span.

I have royal palms and would be willing to sell some poults if they ever start laying or if you decide to order I wouldn't mind buying a couple to add some diversity to my bloodline.
That is great. I'm assuming that you like them?

Congrats you all on your hatches. I had plans on firing up my HM Incubator and setting some duck eggs next week. I had been getting an egg almost everyday and they were looking fertile, but now that I'm wanting to start setting some a side to hatch they aren't laying.

. At least my chickens are laying fertile eggs so I could try some of those, but I really wanted to set the duck eggs...Hopefully I'll get a few to put in!

Natureberry farms has their list posted with prices. I'm thinking about making a trip out in April!

438 unread posts. No way am I going to be able to catch up that many. The holidays were crazy. Between my family and Travis' we had something going on every weekend. I was sick for 2weeks of the holiday time. A cold that just wouldn't go away. The amount of homework my first grader brings home is surprising. Now that the holidays are over birthday parties seem to be the it thing. I am still working at 3am 5 days a week. Never a dull moment.

I don't plan on hosting chickenstock this year. Every year is just too much for me. I'm happy with every couple years and Nutty said she would be interested this year.

Rancher-- How is your DW and family doing?

Hope everyone is doing great and has great hatches. I'm not hatching yet. My birds haven't liked this latest cold snap and production is down.
