NY chicken lover!!!!

We're up to 31/37 that have hatched! Pretty excited! So out of the eggs that went to lockdown, 31/33 have hatched! One more is thoroughly pipped but not moving at the moment and I don't see a pip on the other one.
Didn't think I would get this many!
Hoping to sell on Craigslist for $2 each, straight-run,
Day-olds. Does that seem reasonable? Not much to compare it to on our local Craigslist.

438 unread posts. No way am I going to be able to catch up that many. The holidays were crazy. Between my family and Travis' we had something going on every weekend. I was sick for 2weeks of the holiday time. A cold that just wouldn't go away. The amount of homework my first grader brings home is surprising. Now that the holidays are over birthday parties seem to be the it thing. I am still working at 3am 5 days a week. Never a dull moment.

I don't plan on hosting chickenstock this year. Every year is just too much for me. I'm happy with every couple years and Nutty said she would be interested this year.

Rancher-- How is your DW and family doing?

Hope everyone is doing great and has great hatches. I'm not hatching yet. My birds haven't liked this latest cold snap and production is down.

Nora is now mobile, on the go, and has a mind of her own!
DW is doing okay. Starts Radiation soon. Tired mostly.

Nora has gotten big. Donovan has too of course.

Sorry you can't do the chickenstock but will you folks be at the one we have this year? I have to go since Nutty is being so considerate and planning it around our planned trip to TX. Daughter is having a Sophie.

What have you got hatching or are you hatching anything? Is it you that has Buckeyes?

Say hey to Travis.

There is a hatchery near Rochester too .1.1 /2 - hour drive from Syracuse
Nature berry farm - heard good things about it ...if you want chicks earlier

Is your Avatar a silkie ? Cute !

I have gotten chicks from Natureberry. I recommend them to anyone. The fellow cares about his stock. They have a website - Natureberry farm - good selection, but not many 'exotics' if that's what you're looking for. I bought Barnies, Wellies & SLW last year. Of the 6 I bought, 2 died ? cause, but the rest have laid eggs like crazy. I will be getting some more this year. Someone here said that he gets his eggs from Ideal poultry??

Thought I'd share! Just hatched my first batch of chicks over the last 24 hours. I set 37 barnyard mixes of my own and two friends. Threw out 4. Went into hatch yesterday with 33 eggs. Started hatching at 6:40am yesterday and 24 have hatched by this morning!!!! So cool!
Can't wait to find out the final total!

Eggs and meat. They are laying at six weeks of age, an egg a day, and they are also ready to be butchered at that time. They take about 17 days to hatch instead of 21 like chickens.

WOW, that's crazy! I know a guy that raises hundreds of them. I haven't talked to him in yrs. We used to hang out with his kids and borrow his kayaks. He raised them for selling them for bird dog training, I'm sure eggs and meat too.
