NY chicken lover!!!!

Yes. I always leave the chicks in the incubator til day three. Then move them to the brooder with their first drink being sugar water.

You must post pics, you know. ;)

Of course! 14 plus more pips now.

There is one egg shell covering another eggs air sac end should I be concerned?

I used to hatch once a year but let the broody hens do it the last 2 yrs. I am out of practice. Lol

Well, the silkie is now spinning circles :barnie I'm thinking perhaps a severe case of wry neck, so I'm treating it for that, or it really did get whacked in the head and now has lasting neurological issues, ugh. Also, I have mice in my workshop even though we are running those electronic devices that are supposed to keep them away. Time to set up a bucket trap. I also put all the chicks in there on a preventative dose of Denagard, since mice can actually carry mycoplasma gallisepticum. Better safe than sorry until I can trap them.

You must be pretty good at it. I've never had that many hatch. 50% is about it.

I'm not sure about the shell. Usually they don't pip there so I would expect it to pip just the same. I don't know.

I plan to let the broodies hatch later this year. They get to do my Marans. I just have no luck with them.

So the new incubator has proven itself as a hatcher...

Hey all near Vermont - There is a chicken swap/sale set for Sunday April 26th at the Tractor Supply Store in Ruland from 10-2

Buying has no fee attached - if you want to sell it is $8 if you are member of whatever group (I don't know - but you can join there) or $5 if you just want to sell at this one swap.

ETA - I think I got the pricing mess up - but you get the idea - all for less than $10 to sell no matter what.
