I'd check your local Craigslist. If it's not to far for you someone in Delhi sells Bielefelders and Swedish Flowers, and some they call Catskill Homesteaders sorta Easter Eggers.
Paradise in Disguise Hobby Farm is her website, she posts here sometimes.

Most folk that post craiglist are too far out. I do not have a car, so I'd need to be able to travel by taxi in order to pick them up. And thank you, I'll check out her website.

I should have more started pullets, probably mid-June, that would be used to being outdoors and not need as much "care" as young chicks.
But, they'd still need to be grown out for a few months before they'd be full size. 

If you're not able to find any locally for you - we may be able to work something out and/or deliver.
We know people in that Otisville/Middletown area, so we could always combine a trip & visit them at the same time.

I may be able to catch a bus and then take a cab to Catskill, but if you could deliver for an extra fee that would be kind. I'm located in Newburgh.

I have 2 free 3 month old roosters if anyone is interested. One is a white Olive Egger and the other is a straight comb from our OE pen colored like a cuckoo maran (handsome).

This is what i was thinking i would try in the new coop to try and get a nice variety of colored eggs i have seen olive eggers around too that might be a nice addition in place of a EE but only if i can find that. Anyone in the Elmira / Binghamton / Ithaca areas hatching any of these in the near future? The only nice thing about the hatcheries is i could get all of them hatched at the same time to make life easier Let me know what you all think! Thanks! want to keep the coop under 8 birds total.

I Will never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever own another leghorn chicken. If you want white eggs there are other varieties with better temperaments.

I don't mind my brownleghorns, their crazy but great free rangers and lay everyday. Surprisingly my golden laced polish, who I didn't want to keep because I heard they are not hardy and not good egg layers (kids made me keep her) did great this horribly cold winter and is also laying everyday along with the leghorns. She lays a white egg and is very calm.
Our EEgrs are laying good, but the wellsumer hasn't laid a egg in two months!? Some colorful egg basket, missing the dark brown spotted eggs :-(

I have heard bad thing about the leghorns but I'm giving them a try as I want that trait for free ranging and cheap feed but not for pets. I have over 40 adult chickens now. Mine are Isabelle's though. Also I have blue black and splash Bresse and they lay a better looking white egg then the leghorns, but some of my bresse lay a tinted egg. I hear icelandics lay a nice white egg. I have a recomendation of a bielefelder pullet. I have one and by far she is my favorite layer. Her eggs are a dark coppery color and huge! She lays at least 5 days a week also. She is also huge herself and very laid back. I have wheaten Ameraucanas for blue eggs and they are my favorite breed. Their blue color ranges throughout the season and are medium to large but they are such sweet chickens. I have also liked the temperament of barred rocks but I no longer keep them as I got into more exotic chickens. I hear that orpingtons are great as well as basque hens. I just got some orpingtons and will get basque next year so I can't comment yet. My spitzhauben lays a small white egg but it's not a cuddly chicken, but it is very pretty. Hope this helps.

Beer can I think so too. And they can be bred with brown leghorns to improve their color.
