NY chicken lover!!!!

I didn't collect eggs last night because they're so bad. I'll do two days at a time. I've one nest box the Del don't use so I put them all in there real quick.

So. I went to Joanns to buy some more fabric even though DW leaves in the morning for TX.

I have no idea how we'll afford this trip but she hasn't seen the GK's and after all she's been through I can't say no.

She won't make these up until she comes back of course. I thought to get some more man friendly fabric. I had her make some man friendly aprons for me at school since I was the only guy. I thought perhaps the guys were staying away because of all the girlie aprons. Of course I prayed too and then Bro. Roy lost his job and he started to come in four days a week. He didn't "need" to work and found one later that allowed him to come into school anyhow, thank the Lord. We men do the dishes so it's quite hard.

DW made one of the aprons but did it upside down. All the chickens look like they're standing on their heads.

I'll keep that one for school.

I'm taking a break from staining and polying two garden benches that got cruddy over the years. Not the greatest job but much better than before.
Have you seen the Pintrest photo and pattern for used blue jean aprons?

Since it appears that there isn't an active thread for Sept ChickenStock. I was wondering what breeds would be coming. Day olds and very young birds? I would like to get 3-6 more birds, depending on breed. Heavy, dual purpose, heritage breeds that do well in semi confinement???
Additionally is anyone bringing plants that are meant to be transplanted in the fall? I am working on my garden and yard still.

My garden is non-existent this year. I'd love to get something going but will likely wait until Spring. If I make it to Chicken Stock I'd be bringing 6-week old chicks. The breeds that might hatch are Black Copper Marans, Ameraucana, Legbar, Partridge Plymouth Rock, Welsummer, EE mixes, and Buff Laced Brahmas. I don't know what will hatch or what I'll keep, so I'll keep this updated as we get closer to CS.

Chicks are fun but I can't wait for these ladies to start laying eggs. The oldest are only 3.5 months old. They free range like champs now. The neighbors are confused. We had a little girl stop by to tell us our chickens were out. Haha.

Well - if your hatch goes well and if there is a CS, I might be interested in a couple of Welsummers - pretty please with bells on?

@LuvMyChicks1491 Where did you get the white holland? I would like to get some, but this is the only place I've found that might have true white holland turkeys. At $15ea min 15 + shipping I don't think I can afford them.

I picked them up from a local farm in Oneida. I don't know what she has left. She was a very nice older lady. I can't remember the name off the top of my head. I can look her up and let you know if you want. I can't remember where you are, so not sure how close to Oneida you are?

I should have some transplants  lambs ears, bee balm & possibly some herbs & brunnera. Nutty hasn't posted anything for ages, I'm hoping she is still having a gathering. :fl

I was hoping that someone had heard from her. But if no one has I guess I'll hold off on ordering anything, at this point.
I know some of the reviews and were brutal. Maybe her feelings got hurt. I understood many of the opinions and agreed with some, however it was hard to know what it was supposed to be like since it was my 1st one.
Hopefully she'll post soon and we can see what going on.

I think people ended up disappointed that because a bunch of outside people came and didn't bring auction donations or food (she said that some did, but I think most didn't, and some BYC people didn't either) everything was spread a little thin and it was really hard to find your BYC friends. It was still fun, though. She has been really busy lately and there were large stretches of time that she wasn't on leading up to the May one too so I bet she's still planning to have it and has just been too busy to check in.
