NY chicken lover!!!!

Any ideas on what the parent stock was? Can you see the type of comb?
no idea on its parent stock. Its one of many hatch day mysteries from myers.

Anyone know what breed this chick is. I'm almost certain it is somesort of bantam as its a fraction of the size as my other chicks that allve hatched on the 3rd
Wow, it is cute. I'm not sure what to guess. What color egg did it hatch from? I hatched on the 1st and none have coloration and combs like that. Maybe EE? What breeds did you order?

Not sure on egg as they shipped after they hatched. This is one of several hatch day mystery chicks from myers hatchery. Got the rest figured out just lacking breed for this lil one

Gramma and Rancher, thanks for further info. Here's a pic I took of Sylvia this morning, her comb is not pale, and only flopping in the usual area. She's eating, and drinking, pooping, just seems 'off'. I still can't help thinking it's related to a combination of our ongoing very hot and humid weather, molting, and have a fast moving 5 year old staying here for 3 weeks, although he never harassed the chickens, just his presence, fast movements near the coop, and excited shouting in the garden probably freaked her out, but I'm not experienced enough to be able to rule out another issue, like parasites etc.

No, sadly I did not do much breed research before getting our first 2 chickens, Sylvia is a Brown Leghorn, and Pearl is a Plymouth Rock - they were a surprise present for my husbands birthday last year, we were having a huge slug, snail and cutworm problem in our veggie garden, and had talked about getting some for pest control - my sheep farmer neighbor got a mixed box of all the leftover chicks from Tractor Supply, and offered to give me two, all I asked for was 2 of different colors - I don't think she knew which breeds she had anyway.

Here's the 'reveal' July 2014

I did say in my intro write up to BYC, that now we know Leghorns are not the breed for us, and we wouldn't get any more - I did lots of research before getting our current new chicks, a Silver Laced Wyandotte & a Partridge Rock.

I'm still thinking it would be a good idea to deworm them, as I never have and the adult birds are 16 months old now. Of course I'll keep monitoring her closely and pass on any updates
