That's a long way for hatching eggs to travel. If they're packed well they should be fine tho. Fingers crossed!

Well it looks like I'll be keeping my lavender Orpington roo. Couldn't find him a home. I'm wondering about what age he may start harassing hens? He is about 14 weeks old. I have bantams mostly and 3, 6 week old chicks - lavender Orpington, barnevelder and polish.
So is there a point that I will need to separate the roo? I just don't know if he could hurt the smaller hens.
Eventually I'd like to breed him with my Orpington pullet - but I have no idea about how that will go.

So is there a point that I will need to separate the roo? I just don't know if he could hurt the smaller hensSize does not matter with pecking order ..my Teeny Sumatras got NO advances from the Teen Roos who are 3 times their sizeHe should start showing some interest about now ...probably with pullets his age ..Hens will more than likely shut him down for now They will probably all work it out
Ive seen my roo who is 4 times the size of my Sumatras ...mate her with no problem ...she squatted so his full weight isnt on her ..I worried about him hurting her too .

Hi everyone! It's been a while. I had around 900 new posts to read. Welcome to all the newbies. Sorry to hear of some of the losses and illnesses. Also some very interesting reads. My husband is back to work and doing well. I have 7 Roos left destined for freezer camp. No hens but I do have some Guinea keets I hatched. I wanted a few to control ticks but had a good hatch with many extras. They are royal purple and a few pearl greys if any one is interested. They are 6 weeks off lights and go into a coop at night. I have ordered wheaten ameraucana eggs from peachick and some orpingtons from ultimate orpingtons. I should also be getting bielefelders from GFF. I'm excited to be starting again. I can't believe how much I missed my chickens and how expensive eggs got.
She has a crest as big as a polish! She's beautiful. I had a few shoulder chickens but unfortunately they have passed away. I'm hoping I get another one - they are so great.Went out this morning with my camera..My Swedish Flower Hen it just too funny! The minute I come out she is at my feet and acts like she wants to get picked up. She loves to sit on my arm. The kids said I should have named her "Parrot" instead of "Sasha". When I was waiting for the kids to get off the bus she must of heard me because she came running from around the house. Picked her up and she got on my arm..Then proceeded to climb her way up so that she was siting on my shoulder till the bus came. She sat there for at least 15 minutes or more... Silly Chicken!!![]()
