Legbar chickens
$25 — Albany NY can meet up somewhere
I have 2 roosters and 9 hens for sale. They are legbars chickens which lay blue eggs and when you hatch out the eggs, they are sex linked so you can right at hatch if they are roosters or hens. they are 5 almost 6 months old and will be laying soon. Hens are $25 each and roosters are $15 each. I will do deals for two groups with a rooster or the whole group but one rooster must go with the hens. Or you can just buy the hens for $25 each. I have more pics of them, just hard to get them all in one pic lol!

Do you sell hatching eggs? Not so much interested in roosters but if I had a couple of hens to stick into my EE line that would be good. Can't afford $25 a hen right now.

Hi fellow NYers!
This will be my first winter with chickens, so I'm starting to think about keeping them happy and healthy over a CNY winter... I'd like to knit them all little hats and sweaters, frankly!

I'm planning to use heated dishes to keep their water and fermented food thawed, but am wondering if I should keep them right in the coop (I use pine shavings in there). Seems dangerous. The coop is on stilts, so my husband and I were discussing putting up three "walls" and keeping the food and water dishes under the coop to avoid having heating elements in bedding. Thoughts?

Also, do you open the coop and let your girls out every single day? Even below zero degrees?
Do you open the coop to collect eggs every day when it's bitterly cold, or avoid opening it up on the coldest days?
Dare I comment? I don't like to keep water in the coops. Three of my coops have covered runs with cords for heated waterers.

I do use heated nipple waterers but they need protection from cold wind. Otherwise I use black rubber tubs even in the covered runs. If placed on a cement block they tend to freeze more quickly.

As you can see I used black rubber tubs on the ground even in winter. I fill them with hot water in the am and check them in the afternoon to break ice or add more hot water.

I've found they are less apt to freeze quickly directly on the ground.

I do have two heated dog water bowls but have yet to use them. You will get lots of ideas on heated waterers.

I don't recommend waterers in the coop since the chickens drip water from their waddles, bang the hanging waterers or knock them over.

Of course I also don't like them shut up in the coop. Especially if there is insufficient lighting.

As always no one system works for everyone, so see what others do and choose the system that works for you.

I wish you well,

Not my chickens, Rancher. This is an ad by someone I have met a few times at swaps. You would need Facebook to contact her.

I don't do Facebook either but the wife does. Someone posted a vid of a silkie and a chihuahua with missing front legs (had wheels) playing/eating/living in the owners house. It was cute but I wonder if the owner had mental health issues? Lol!
Anyone else see it? I'd find it and post it but I've gotta go.

Well hello there. ..I am originally from OLEAN NEW YORK...down here in Vidor Texas 20 miles from the Louisiana border....my hens are hearty all year round and can tolerate cool weather but the coldest I have seen in my 17 years has been 20 degrees in morning but warms up quickly

Machias is an hour south of Buffalo. We're between Springville and Ellicotville. Actually, my mailing address is West Valley(you know, the nuclear site). It's about 15 minutes to Springville,15 minutes to Arcade, and 45 minutes to the Pen border.
I'm from Olean

Gotcha. I don't do facebook.

What exactly are you looking for, an EE hen or hatching eggs, or either. I will message her for you and see what she has. There are other facebook pages as well that have people closer to you. I can post what you are looking for and see what's available.
