Sure, Tab.  Remind me in the spring and I will save a couple dozen eggs for you.  Will you have any blue egg layers.  I love the EE crosses I got from you.  I lost one to a predator, but the other two are going strong.

I have mostly OE now, but some look more blue than olive. I do still have my silver ameraucana rooster I will put over some of the girls. The offspring should have some nice egg color. What are your thoughts on frizzle?

Looks to be a partridge rock? That's their juvenile feathers & once she molts to get her "true" feathers, it should be partridge. I've had partridge chickens before & that's what they looked like at that age. It does look "barred" but I've seen that even in EEs it turns into a pattern as they mature.

I wondered the same. I believe for Express Mail there is an automatically applied $100 of insurance. I'm not sure what the policy is for getting this money, but I would think it should be applicable for you.

I think insurance is paid to the sender, so it is up to them to repay you. I could be wrong. My only insurance claim was over 10 years ago.
I hope all is well with everyone. Rearranged the coop to accommodate the growing chicklets. I still have many chores to accomplish.

Yup, going to be decent through the rest of the week, we better take advantage.
Everybody is scared of El Nino. I was self employed and worked outside everyday all winter in the mid 90s during el nino and la nina yrs. I was spoiled, in my t-shirt most of those winters. Have to see what this one brings, doesn't worry me.

Well, took my soon to be three year old to gather eggs with me late this morning, and as we were walking into the pen my mom called. Of course, the toddler hates to not get my full attention, so got it by breaking two of the three eggs. First time she's broken any eggs, I was pretty annoyed...

As of now no sign of them. Cheeka left a message with a supervisor at my local sort facility but she hasn't messaged me again yet so I doubt she's heard anything back.

I've also sent two messages to the seller over the past two days just to keep them aware of the situation and so far I've heard nothing back

It's very possible she just hasn't seen them yet but the way this whole thing is going it just makes me nervous.

So sorry those little chicks didn't arrive safely. I hope the ones you have left make it

I don't believe chicks or live animals are covered by insurance. I may be wrong. I should be wrong.

526.33 Claims for Live, Day–Old Poultry

Indemnity claims (see DMM 609) for damage, partial loss, and loss of insured shipments of mailable, live, day–old poultry are accepted only in the following situations:

1. Death of the live, day–old poultry resulted from Postal Service handling after conditions for mailability were met and when there was strong likelihood that the shipment could have been safely transported.​
2. Contents were lost because of damage to the container while in Postal Service custody.​
3. The complete package was lost in the mail.​
4. Special handling was purchased as required under526.32f.​

Was nice out today and didn't get nearly enough done. Had to use up my 10% TSC coupons but gave them away. They expired today. I still have the in the mail coupon. It's good for two more days. I did have a $2 off from Nutrena so i got a bag of feather fixer. Does everyone subscribe to Nutrena? Even if you don't use the coupons you could donate them to others

Anyhow got the plastic up on the hoop coop run and fixed a screen door I plan to use as a gate. I built a door way to the woods and will use the screen door that way. I also have the old wooden door from the house and will build a door way on the other side of the yard and use it there. I looked on Pinterest but no one has used a screen door the way I plan.
