here is a pic of my suspected rooster. His name is chick. Yes, thanks, I know it's a very original name.

Yes that looks like a rooster & a Cornish cross meat chicken due to his huge size.

Yes, he was definitely bred as a meat chicken, my son got him from a slaughterhouse. Had no idea about the breed, though, thanks. I had no idea a chicken could grow so fast!

Thanks, Tao chick, boskelli, and chicken girl. I had high hopes in the beginning that my son's chicken (my seven year old was the one who brought it home) would be female, but over the last couple of months we've had it, I'm resigned to the fact that it's a male. I haven't heard any crowing yet, but it's probably too young. I'm not supposed to have any roosters

, but I know there's one in the neighborhood. I don't know if the neighbors will tolerate two crowing roosters. Hope mine stays quiet.
Welcome ! Thank you for rescuing the chicken ..
I think there is a story there ? Care to share ?
Looks like a Boy for sure . Roosters can be tame & make nice pets

@Glasshen she is getting some down time with my rottweiler checking on her. Large dog crate covered with a black tarp on all but one side. Small amounts of food every couple hours. Still has a waterer available at all times. I will keep yall posted. I am also going to be adding a bit of fat to her feed starting tomorrow to maybe "lubricant " everything a bit? I'm willing to try anything. She is my flightiest girl but also my favorite, such a rotten personality.

Add some olive oil to her feed. What things other than feed are you giving her? If she's on layer, back off for a bit, though the olive oil might help her pass the eggs better. Make sure they have lots and lots of water. Chickens need lots and lots of clean water. If she's drinking from puddles I'd stop that.

I have a possible sick pullet. She is a 7 month white leghorn looks good, acting fine, seems to feel just like her 4 white sisters. Only problem is 3 days in a row she has laid a bloody egg. any help is appreciated.
Something is definitely wrong in there ...
Has she started laying bigger eggs all the sudden ?
She needs to rest ...Isolate her ...in a dark spot ../ in a cage if you have one ..for a few days .
Keep it covered so she rests ...check her occasionally to make sure she eats ...
Absolutely NO LAYer or Calcium !
You can feed her non layer feed or corn or grass & water .
Depending on how far you want to go... with this ...you could put .. Raw honey in her vent

My husband is in the retail meat business, and sometimes his suppliers can't deliver or he needs extra meat, and goes to the slaughterhouse to get it himself. One day our seven year old son was with him on one of these trips, and a young ccicken escaped from its cage and made its way into the goat section, where they were. I suppose the workers needed a bit of entertainment, so they told my son that if he could catch this chicken, he could take it home. So when I picked him up later I saw him getting into the car with a sneaky manner, trying to hide something under his arm. Well the chicken wasn't that small that I couldn't see some white feathers sticking out. At that time I was flabbergasted that the husband allowed him to have it, because he's always complaining that we have too many animals and they make too much mess around the yard and house. Before that, I never gave a thought to keeping chickens here, even though my family had a few when I was a teenager. But that was in a whole different continent, with a much bigger yard. There was much argument about naming i, and after all that, we ended up with the very original Chick. He wasn't fully feathered yet, and still made baby noises, and in two months he's grown to be bigger than most chickens I've seen. Well I hope I didn't bore you all with this narrative, but that's the story behind me getting a chicken.
