NY chicken lover!!!!

Just an FYI...I bought some BCM pullets from somebody in Canandaigua and they were not great quality at all. One hen is solid black, no coppering at all. She lays a very poor quality egg. Her sister is decent, lays a decent egg, but carries the gene for yellow feet/shanks. Not sure where you were thinking of getting them.

I would really like to get some better quality BCM birds.

Chicken Stock is too far away, my husband would never go for it, lol. But those of you in Watkins, Montour Falls, Penn Yan, and surrounding areas....I'd love to buy chicks, eggs, or trade, whatever.

Who was it that had the Lavender Americaunas?
Sweetpea, there is a woman in Churchville who posted BCM hatching eggs on Craigslist and I'm not an expert on the breed quality, but she did send me pics and said that the woman she got them from claimed they were high quality for the breed. I'm planning to pick some eggs up in March.

Have any of you ever ordered through Hoover ' s hatchery? They seem fair priced for their meaties. I need to figure out the best source for meat birds so I can get ordering soon.
considering the way the mail is running I would go with the place that is closest to you. At least for meat chicks.

What you save in price might end up costing you in grief.

@Chicken girl 15 McDowell & Walker in Sidney does chick orders. A late and a early. Give them a call and see what $. I know they have meaties on the list. Not a lot on the list, maybe six or eight breeds and turkeys, couple ducks. Pretty sure min order of 15. I got my RIRs yrs ago through them. I looked at the list last yr, seems like the prices were lower than getting them direct from hatchery even figuring in not paying for shipping. Must be they get a deal. You get only live chicks.

I know exactly where that is. They have puppy treats that my boys love. Oh and all sorts of local merchandise. That's the type of place I love

Got those broad breasted white turkeys there also when we got the rir. The Toms were 50lbs dressed by fall.
