Welcome! We are in the area. I'll have blue, black, splash, chocolate cuckoo, and chocolate Orpingtons, speckled sussex, and Easter egger chicks for sale.

I've got chicks in the incubator that are due to hatch on Sunday.

@ashleymroles I have just started using the heating pad method and I highly recommend it. But I do second what rancher said and use a reptile bulb the first few days.

Okay, if anyone knows where I can get my hands on some ducklings, preferably Indian Runners, I would greatly appreciate it.  For some reason, I just cleaned all but two of the eggs out of my incubator and I don't think that the two that I left are going to be fruitful.  It stinks, as they were one of my 9yo's Christmas gifts.  Any help would be appreciated.

I live in upstate NY, a little while from Rochester, I have tons of ducks! If you want some, they'll be Rouen/Pekin mix. I'm breeding my Rouen male Freddie with my Pekin female Carly this spring

I have not bought chickens from either source, but I have friends who bought started pullets last year - Production Reds from the Poultry Hatchery, and they were pleased with them enough they're getting more this year. I did see them, and they looked like the average hatchery chickens.
But, I too have heard some of their bad reviews. At this point, I'd just prefer buying from someone who's focused on quality, not quantity.

The only contact I had with Randy Wilbur was last year when I sold them Swedish Flower Hen & Bielefelder hatching eggs. They seemed nice, but I do admit many of the BYC people I met at Chickenstock last year were much nicer! I haven't seen in person any of their birds, only the photos of them on Craigslist.

I am always leary of folks even on here who seem to have a lot of different breeds. No way can you keep a decent gene pool with a half dozen hens and one rooster. I had SFH's but sold them since I couldn't keep so many breeds.

Even now, if I give you eggs from the Delaware coop there might be an easter egger or two in there because all the eggs are brown and one of those EE's is laying a brown egg. The other is an OE but she hasn't laid of late.

Then I've got three EE hens, 2 blue and 1 lavender who insist on being in the C. Rock coop.

Point? It's best to hatch your own and be sure. Roosters aren't that hard to get rid of is you're not eating them yourself. I'm sure there are folks here who would take them for the freezer.

Anyone heard from Marq? Is she completely done?

I've got about 17 different breeds, along with junglefowl. Most of the babies are mixed (I have 9 Roos, 40 hens) you can't help what rooster breeds with a certain hen unless you selective breed. My junglefowl always mates with gamefowl. Her babies are the most gorgeous birds I've ever seen though!

I have mutts.. lots of mutts.. and naked necks!! =) But my roosters are all new this year, as sadly my old roo died of age and my younger NN roo took one for the team. So now I have the sons of those two as my roos..

I love to hatch, but getting rid of the roos to reputable people can be a problem. I don't care if you are eating them (well, I do, but I have to be realistic), but I have to rehome them young so you get them 7-8 weeks and need a place to keep em.

I let everyone know straight up that my EE's are EE's and while they may look like an Ameraucana they are not. The same when I had Shorty, the Araucana.

Ah yes, I ordered 2 khaki females last year, and got 2 khaki mixed drakes instead. I was mad that I paid for pure breeds and got mutts. I would have gladly taken the mixes, it doesn't matter to me, but I paid much more for pure. I guess they made up for it though, they gave me Gibby, a huge Rouen who has won many contests
