NY chicken lover!!!!

I may have a wonderful problem and need some help. My coop may not be large enough for the twenty Cohen's that are on their way. Brooding space, juvenile space have I but adult space yikes! All ladies, possibly ten may need new a new home or homes. I will not know exactly how many until May but wanted to put spot out there as soon as I knew I was in a tight spot. They will need to be picked up in Moriah, NY.

Some others like Cochins ? What colors ?

I already have some bielefelders, bresse, sweedish flowers and legbars from them. I'm hoping to get some barbezieux, nederrheiner and hopefully wyandottes. I will definatly let you know what I get. I agree it's like Christmas, so much fun.
Did you eat any of the bresse? They are supposed to be delicious too. I have a hard time culling mine...I am still in the pet frame of mind...not farmer. Let me know what you get...I am curious!

My daughter has been in the drafting, design production, Engineering and now Architecture classes in school. Her teacher decided to have them do a build this semester of a shed. So, I told her to have him build me a coop. She hates my chickens...and will do nothing to help. However, she must have murmured in his ear because last night she told me he needs design ideas by Monday.

So, Shed/coop designs...any ideas? I have no idea what size it will be either. I was thinking coop with a door and then enough room for some straw bales and food on one side. Enough room for 12-20 chickens on the other &easy to move. I found two on here and they looked okay.

I am excited; one less build for me to do.

I was going to stop in there yesterday when I was in Cortland, but I was in a hurry and I can be in there for a while just standing there looking at the chicks..then god forbid a fellow chicken lover comes in and we start talking. I can be there for over 30 minutes so I knew I had better not stop...maybe next week.

I avoid TSC all together this time of year! Between gardening supplies and chicks it is a dangerous place for me...

@rancher hicks what breed is your rooster? How old is he? Did he hatch from a colorful egg? How much are you asking for him?
I recently bought 6 chicks - 3 red stars and 3 BRs and they're 23 days old today. I'm thinking maybe one of my BRs is a cockerel because she's lighter and has more white barring than the rest, but if she isn't I'd really like to have one rooster for protection and fertilized eggs I can possibly hatch. I have about 2 acres fenced in, but I'd like to have a rooster to protect the girls from predators (especially hawks - the dogs take care of the ground predators).

I live in Cato, so Clay really isn't too far from me. I'm thinking when I move them outside in 3-4 weeks it would be the perfect opportunity to introduce a rooster. Any thoughts on good introduction strategies?

So if you still have him in 3-4 weeks and my BR is definitely not a rooster, I'd take him off your hands.

Hey everyone, while working closely with another chicken lady: I traded two silkie chicks for a lovely little Cochin bantam! It's 4 1/2 weeks old and might be self blue or something we will have to wait and see BUT is it a pullet or a rooster?! Here's a pic

I was asked about this bird on my FB page, not knowing the age I said cockerel but knowing it's over 4 weeks old I am going to say pullet. We raise 100's of bantam Cochins a year so I'm pretty sure on my guess.

BTW, hi everybody. Been a while. Busy busy busy.

Chris
