NY chicken lover!!!!

Can a beak regrow? Never thought about it before. They must be able to I'd think, IDK?
Big difference between super glues, buy the good stuff, the stuff that sticks your fingers together if you touch it and rips skin off. Dollar store super glue is not.

I believe the beak is like a fingernail and can grow back. chickens are pretty resilient sometimes. I had a CM that got her neck torn in a coon attack and I treated it with antibiotic cream and she survived and laid nicely.

Forgot the trap in with the chicks yesterday too and someone set it off but no damage that I seen. It was in the chick though I'm not sure when they stop being called chicks. One of the roo chicks is crowing already. He crowed this morning and another ran over, hesitated a second and then pecked him on the head as if to say "shut up". It was pretty comical.

I've posted 16-17 on CL for free. There are some roos and some not. Lavender ee and marans crosses. some not crosses. Do crosses with straight combs lay Olive eggs? They all need to go together. There are a couple of Lavenders. One at least that I suspect is a roo.

I also have two Delaware roosters for free. I figure if anything happens to my lone rooster I just won't be hatching.

I've also got two hens, one of which I know is broody. I keep taking any eggs from under her and pulling her out and putting her on the roost to no avail. I think these chickens hate me.

I'm always tempted to add more birds, especially when you offer such a great opportunity. However, I'm struggling to sell one rooster and considering selling my whole Brabanter flock to get back to one rooster. If I get around to rearranging the coop (like I said I was going to do 4 months ago) then I'll be able manage the sound better. In the meantime, I'm getting tired of the 5 a.m. wake up calls.

I hope you find someone to take on the flock. It sounds like a great group.

I know pea comb is associated with the blue egg gene, but I don't know if that's still true once you cross with straight comb.

@Rancher. Maybe I missed something, but why do your Craigslist birds all have to go together?

Because if they didn't I'd be stuck with all the roosters. The incentive to get the pullets is to take the roosters.

I'm sure someone would take JUST the lavenders but I don't want that either.

Anyone going to the NYS fair? Is it worth the drive? (I'm about 2.5 hours). Never been and next saturday is our anniversary.. what better way to celebrate than deep fried crap! :p

Is there a better way to celebrate than deep fried crap?

I'd say book a room but it might be hard now. Things have changed and going on monday to see them. Hope there are improvements. Week days are easier I think. Not so many kids. Of course monday is free for old geezers like me.

Is that 2.5 round trip or one way? five hours is a bit long but if you were to stay over then it's not to bad. Could you do the weekend? Go to the Fair, see the Burnett Park zoo? Go to the Destiny mall and do a few things.

I'm not sure if it's any good but I'm taking my family on Thursday or Friday. I'm mostly excited about the animals and FRIED CRAP!!! YUMMY. My 2 youngest are excited about the chickens and such. They are my fellow flock keepers.

Butchered 3 cx yesterday and grilled them tonight .. Oh my word they were great.. I will continue my cx operation permanent.

Quote: Im going on Monday too ! - afternoon .My 1st year as a old hen ...Monday and Tuesday is free for Seniors 60 and older

I Enjoy it ...one day each year ...Bring money ...it is easy to spend 50.00 and just eat ...and get something to drink
Luvs chis is at the fair everyday ...Ye old Ox Roast ..I think it is ..she only there morning s ,,ask for Sam or Samatha ...

That caused a cackle !

Everyone getting rid of flocks makes me want to Road trip and gather them all up. I wish I could convince Jon we need more birds. Although we do have 132 birds already only 97 actually count. The rest are cx and not around much longer. I want Barbanter and Marans and EE and so many more I can't think of right now.

I am so excited for winter to get here so I can get all caught up on paperwork and sleep. I have a Shoe box and notebook with my records for the year. All my profit/loss and building supplies and figuring out what all I have to do to get my "hobby farm" reclassified so I can get my tax stuff for next year.

Blasted Easter Bunny I still hate him. It's all his fault I have a farm not a 4 wheeler track in my back yard!!!
