I don't have time to do all the research so can anyone tell me. Do I cross a Marans rooster over a lavender EE to get an olive egger? Or doesn't it matter. An EE rooster over a marans hen?

Then where do I go from there? Will the first generation be an Olive egger or do I have to wait to breed the offspring of the Maran/ EE cross and breed those together?

I do know that a olive egg is a blue egg that has a brown covering on top .

My understanding is that any blue egg breed plus any dark brown egg breed will produce an f1 olive egger (meaning it could be a pale olive). To get a deeper olive color you'd take an f1 olive egger and cross to a dark brown egg breed to get some that will lay deep olive and some that will lay brown eggs (depending on if the blue gene was passed on or not). The f1 is the best chance of olive eggs. Beyond that they become more like Easter eggers and you have a hard time telling who will lay deep olive, light green, blue or brown eggs.

I have an Ameraucana (EE) roo over a Marans hen and if any of their offspring ever lay eggs I will let you know if they ended up being OE.

My little cowboy had a accident today..
I forgot to pick up the rat trap ..and it got him good .
it broke the top of his beak ...boy did it bleed ...all over me and him
I picked him up and cuddled him and soothed him
took him in the house and put some toilet paper on it to stop bleeding .
Once it stopped I put some super glue on it ....I thought it worked until ..
He decided to spar with a hen on the other side of the gate ...
He was inside ...she was outside ..I thought he would stay out of trouble in there .
then of course it started bleeding again ..
It doesnt appear to be totally severed ...
Anyone have a broken beak heal ? He is young ...less than 2 months

For a broken beak it's usually recommended to patch it with a piece of teabag that has been coated in superglue gel - you might try that instead of just superglue. I have seen some severely broken beaks heal if patched correctly

Big difference between super glues, buy the good stuff, the stuff that sticks your fingers together if you touch it and rips skin off. Dollar store super glue is not.

Depends on where it is injured ...and how bad ....if it has blood supply or does get infected
