NY chicken lover!!!!

My broccoli is still alive too ...we have been eating the side shoots

I've never grown it myself before. It's just been non-stop even after half of them went to flower cause I didn't keep up. I think we got more out of the side shoots all added up, than the heads.
The birds love the plants, gobble them up.

Took several roosters and a hen to Hubby's co-worker this morning, they will be freezer camp bound. The 2 big/main roosters too, not enough hens for them will be a problem come spring. And I lost a blue spitz hen to (I suspect) a cat, obviously these roos did not do well protecting the flock. Still have 1 blue, 1 gold, 1 silver spitz roo if anyone needs one. Disappointed I don't have the blue hen anymore for matched pair at 4-H Fair for my daughter. Sent the injured chicken too, she had not died or improved, she wasn't allowed back into the flock and wouldn't have been able to roost, believe maybe due to one (or both) of the big roosters mounting her caused some skeletal injury.
Im currently getting 0-2 eggs a day, be nice to feed less mouths and have only 1 coop to care for.

My birds have been letting me down also, no main flock laying except EEs occasionally. New pullets giant's and nakeds haven't started. I have been getting two eggs a day for the last couple weeks from my giant/silkie cross new pullets.

The only birds of mine that are laying now are my ACs. Everyone else is slacking, although some of them are still molting. My California White and my leghorn both look like pincushions.

Also, I now get to build a new gate for my chicken pen that has a small pop door so I can let the chickens out to free range but the neighbor's stupid pig can't fit through. It's still coming over to eat my feed even after I talked to them about it. The second it heard me pull up over there to feed them today it showed up to eat their feed. So now I get to spend more money because the neighbors can't take care of their animals. I'm already feeding all their ducks.

Honestly if I had a pen for it I would at this point just catch it and give it away to someone on craigslist for free. I'm halfway to just going ahead and trapping it in my chicken run the next time I see it and doing just that.

I'm hoping the chickenstock girls will start this winter! Got 2 AB, an AC/EE and an AC cross in there. Kept the AC boy and NN boy out of that group. The NN has some faint barring, is he blue or lavender?
I was getting a couple Spitz pullet eggs a week, but that stopped since the blue pullet was killed. Have 4 other Spitz girls that should start any time now.
All the PRocks are ragged. Only eggs are from the 2 spring hens.
Stinks that the neighbors can't keep their critters home. And every alternative I try to think of still results in you spending money to deter an animal that is not yours :( Electric fence, paint ball gun...

Did you every try animal control or calling the cops on them for neglect ?...
Mine arent laying well either ....they did molt ...but with free ranging they eat less layer ..

A friends wife who has chickens has been saving Roos from being donated to Cindy Page to feed to her hawks.
She is a wildlife rehabilitator if anyone is interested .
