Didn't you move way far from me? I would love NN eggs and spitzWill drive as long
As for the Emu.. I want to hatch one, keep it till it's off heat or about a foot tall, then I have a friend who will take it. She has sheep and other livestock so has more ability to care for a giant bird than I (and if she is reading this thanks in advance, assuming I can find AND hatch an egg)..
Before I got chickens I snowblowed to the garden shed to be coop that first winter. No way could I shovel and I don't believe in working harder than I have to. A back is a terrible thing to lose.WOW We got Pounded with snow here in Jordan - I had to shovel to get to the coop
6 Inches so Far ..and more coming ...I wonder if it will all melt tomorrow with the rain
I was going to make a trip to JJ Feeds in Central Square today ....but too snowy ..Maybe Tomorrow
Love their Fresh feed - chick Grower is 20 % and their Scratch is 10 % which is higher in protein than most scratch
Hey! I grew up with emus and ostriches. They were my dad's and he was really into them. They make great noises and lay amazing eggs. Not sure what one does with them other than empty and give away for curious youngsters. I know my dad purchased a incubator just for them. Those batons are expensive from what I remember so maybe best to make one. Anyways he does not raise them anymore but I can remember(as a teen) being "forced" to go to all these farms that had them. Though now I might even consider that fun. He had a few successful hatches though he isn't the most diligent person. None of the birds we hatched made it past 6mo. They would get tall and seem healthy then just drop dead for no reason. Who knows. I was a kid then but remember it feeling like a lost cause.
My DD used to live in Lockport. I hated it but now since she's in TX I wish she were back there. I don't have an incu anymore and have considered buying another, but when the hens start sitting, I know I'll regret it. Drive to Buffalo? Well they would cost a lot less than $175 for six chicks wouldn't it. How much are her eggs and how much will you want for chicks?wooosh eee $25 each plus shipping is a lot!! "jay z" and his hen "b" are separate right now. Birchens are hard to find right! have considered buying hatching eggs from the original source of my pair. If yoou want to wait a few weeks i can hatch you some chickies (or eggs?). would you wanna drive to buffalo though/? what part of cuse are you in
