NY chicken lover!!!!

I have 2 cockerels (both 2 weeks old right now) that need to be rehomed once they're old enough. They are Easter Egger/Black Australorp mixes hatched from my own flock. I'm willing to give them away for free, as long as they will be well taken care of. I don't want these boys to end up as dinner. I live in Upstate NY, but I can drive them at least part way if necessary. Please PM me if interested!

The first one looks a lot like two of my girls - I have a roo with a small flock but your boys are gorgeous. Definitely Eggers with those green legs LOL

Hi All - ISO of happy, healthy hens - in the Ithaca (or upstate NY) region -

Apologies if I’m not posting this in the right spot. Newbie.

A kind member suggested I take to the NY thread to see if anyone had a lead on started pullets or young hens that need rehoming. We’re getting back into backyard chickens and are hoping to skip all things chick related. We’re located in the Ithaca area and are in search of 5 healthy, docile hens. I’m really hoping for Orpingtons, but will take suggestions. Key for us - nice hens, decent layers, HEALTHY, and not more than 2 years young (if possible). No roosters, unfortunately - our neighbors would kill us.

We’re still newbs, but definitely have done the chicken thing in the past (faverolles, bantam cochins, and one silkie roo that we hid for awhile because he was - the best; the things you do for love).

Seriously tho - suggestions most welcome. We‘re struggling to find healthy hens. Lots of folks are requiring roosters to go with, or need you to buy up an entire flock (10 plus).

Thanks in advance — The Woodsmith “farm”

1 GIANT ragdoll cat; a “trash muppet” named Wren; a big floofy thoroughly suburban Pyr rescue named Finley; two gerbils; a small fry - and some exhausted adults who still want chickens because… :).

Anyways, I need some HELP!!
I don't know if you fall under their umbrella, but have you called NY Farmnet?
https://www.nyfarmnet.org/

Also, I work for a tiny township. Small town politics are full of big fish in little ponds who are used to getting away with their ****, technically legal or not. Absolutely confront them with a lawyer. The town supervisor/mayor nor the board have the slightest idea about actual laws 90% of the time, they know just enough to pass their little local ordinances -(which may be illegal when compared to state - and sometimes even County - law and will NOT hold up in court) pat themselves on the back and vote themselves a raise. It's a circus.

Go with a lawyer or they'll try to bulldoze you.

NY peeps, I have some peeps that need a ride!

I support city kids learning agriculture, and I sent hatching eggs to a summer program, with the understanding I'd also come pick up the chicks. Which should happen next week, so naturally, I tore a muscle in my shoulder yesterday. Driving into and through the city one-handed and in pain is probably not a great plan as even typing this is distinctly Not Fun.

The chicks are in Queens, and if anyone is passing that way that can get them even partway to Delaware County, that would be awesome. Or anywhere near Dingman's Ferry PA, as I've got a friend there that could keep them for a week. Or if anyone wants to adopt 4 adorable, fluffy Maran's cross (possibly olive egger) chicks, that would also be great, and any roosters could still come back here.

Do you guys know anyone interested in taking in a pair of pet large breed rabbit does? Mother, daughter bonded with a hutch. I had retired them with an older lady who has Loved them. But she is in the hospital and her family can't/won't take them in and give them the same level of care she wants them to have. I am taking them back in for the time being but it will be temporary. Hekimer, Mohawk Area.

Hi all! I have 6-7 (they’re 7 weeks old so not 100% sure how many yet) jersey giant roosters that need a new home. I’m located in Delaware county and am will to drive to meet someone if they’re interested. Even if you just want one comment or message me and we can make it happen. Thanks!
