NY chicken lover!!!!

Good Morning

Update 4 hatched yesterday, and there's a lot of pipping going on. I guess losing heat for 6 hours may not have too adverse an outcome. I didn't open it to add water and the humidity went back up to 52%.

Its snowing again here too.

I just wanted to let everyone know that my hatch finished. 13 out of 14 hatched. Im already trying to figure out what to put in the incubator next. Do ya think if I get buff silkies and just keep them with the buff orps anyone will notice?

There's a major difference, but they will be amazed by their looks - so go for it.

My mom will not go out to the coop for months (hasnt been out since fall, she is afraid of my chickens) but always seems to know when I have new chickens. I could just tell her I dont know why they look like that, they are out of buff orp eggs they must have some kind of mutation. Its not like she has ever seen a silkie.

I came home from work and there were 12 hatched. I had to move them out. There just wasn't enough room. After I moved them the humidity went up to 71. 2 more have hatched tonight and 5 more are in process. It looks like a good hatch. I can't wait until morning. All my Buffs are crosses. That darn EE cock claims all the hens for himself. He even moved into the Orpington House. My poor BO cock was outside by himself, tonight. I wasn't planning on separating the groups for another month, but it looks like I won't have BO chicks until I do. My DH wants to enclose the deck between the coops to make a brooder house. I guess thats because I have 6 2-month old, 10 1-month old and maybe 19+ day old chicks in the basement! And he saving green eggs for this weekend when the bator is empty again. He knows I've got the bug.

And I order 25 chicks, but they won't come for a couple of months.

I order from John Blehm. I had to order a quantity of 25. I'm only planning to keep 10 at most.
They're all Ameraucanas - 10 Lavender FS, 10 Lavender bantams and 5 Black FS.
