Ag and Markets in Albany and then they put your app out to your area tester. They then get in touch with you to make an appointment. I believe they don't test when it is this cold...blood sample will freeze. number is 1 518457 3502. Good luck.

I have the form that they will send you, if you want it. They emailed it to me last year when I told them I wanted to be certified. I can email it to you if you want. Just PM me your email address.

I got mine sunday & moved 131 eggs into it tonite! I'm sure a bunch of them are too old to hatch. I sold a few weeks worth of eggs to help pay for the sportsman. I'll start candling & tossing next weekend.

I'm not worried about the competition! The breeder I got my blues from & I have been each others biggest competition...lol. We even swap white silkies, since we have different bloodlines. I just hope I can hatch some blacks this year!

A good reason to get NPIP tested is that if one is already NPIP certified, they cannot buy eggs or get bird from someone who isn't. At least they aren't suppose to.

And doing it once a year is handy in case you want to show, you don't have to have it done every 3 months.

This is for NPIP testing? Also known as pullarum?? Please correct me if necessary. I have only had chickens since July. I plan on hatching my own eggs in April/may. Would you recommend waiting untill I have hatched my chicks? Thank you for any and all information.

Yes, for NPIP testing.
They test birds over 4 months old, so I'm not sure you need to wait till the chicks have hatched.

If I go and are brave enough to show, I will show my whites, lavenders and maybe a wheatie ameraucana. Probably have to rent a U-Haul

I use boxes with a lot of holes in the top for air. That way, they don't kick shavings all over the car. When I went to Illinois last year for a show, one of the hens managed to get her head out of the top of the box, and finally got on top of the box. I have a hatchback car, with lost of windows and got a lot of strange looks as cars passed up on the Thruway....!

Yes, you have to tell them you want to be NPIP Certified. Its for pullorum. They only test birds over 4 months of age. So it doesn't matter if you have chicks from your own birds.

Too funny! My luck, that'd be a 13 pound angry rooster! I have a few soft sided pet carriers. They zip closed, are easy to carry & have mesh panels for good ventilation. I'd better start stocking up on them.

BTW.... Have you rescheduled the 4-H meeting?
