It is the Finger Lakes Livestock Exchange (www.fingerlakeslivestockex.com) which typically does cattle, sheep, etc. but they occasionally have small animals. You have to check the website for dates, as they only post them when a new one is announced.

There is one in schuylerville too, held each saturday night. Haven't been there yet, but plan to go next week or the week after. I hope they let you drop the birds off, since they auction them at 9PM and that's way past my bedtime!!

You with all the poultry mags...you haven't seen that electrified poultry netting yet? Good grief! I think that's what Fyre is talking about??.....

Well I still got the friz chicks born on the 5th. Get anything I don't care I just want them gone. Just don't take my Brn Leghorn chicks or you die. The friz are easy enough to tell they're all white and smaller than the Dels. and EE's. I don't think the girl from TSC is serious about having chickens. I've moved them to the back room which I never did get the chance to vacumm. My back is killing me from the work I did yesterday spreading cardboard and planting tomatoes before I leave. Making sure there was food for everyone.

I'm not keeping the silkies unless I can get more eggs from Claudia cuz i don't want to cross them with another line. Just blues though. I may be going to AL but Lord I don't want to hatch anymore chicks til next year.

Trylin - did you see my posting about that orp from AL that I now realize is a splash and i can cross her with a blak to get blues?

I have been watering so don't touch anything.

Just a few more things to pack and it's up, up and away.

I have a hen gone broody. Spent all week trying to break her. It's not happening. She is GONNA hatch that golf ball or die trying. Does anyone have a couple of fertile eggs I can let her hatch? I'm willing to pay up to $2 an egg....I just need 2 or 3, she's a bantam.

I have been working on naming my chickens. I like my names to make people laugh...

So far I have

Rowdy Roo and the crew (Rhonda, Houdini (roo) and The Assistant)

Jesse James and the Gang (all black chickens, The girls don't have names yet)

Silkie Locks and his Flock (The stupid silkie chicks)

Edited to add: If one of the Amerucana chicks is a roo (which I think it is) I am gonna call it "Cocka Doodle Roo" -- Roo for short.

With the Ameruacana chicks I think I have a minimum of 5 roos. Is that too many for a flock of 15 hens?

I have two broodies right now that hatched chicks and they are so adorable! I think I'll have at least 6 roos out of the batch, but thankfully another byc'er has offered to take them for me.
